It is a privilege to live in a community that carries the pursuit of excellence into every aspect of life. At DCA, athletics is an avenue to challenge each other by fully committing toward common goals and objectives. Real success is found in making the necessary commitment to discipline oneself and strive towards those goals. This commitment and discipline are among the lessons that athletes carry with them into all areas of life, including their spiritual walk. In Hebrews 12:1, we are encouraged in our spiritual life to “run with endurance the race that is set before us”. I am hopeful that 2013-2014 will be a year where our students learn lessons on the field they need in order to grow and mature in their faith and spiritual commitment. It is this maturity and search for excellence that will help them be Christ-like leaders for His Kingdom. I am blessed to be a part of God’s work here on this campus next to the Stones River! Enjoy the games, season, and the year!

Bret Schierling

Middle and High School Principal Thank you for supporting DCA students and faculty as they strive towards excellence in the classroom, athletic competitions, and a variety of performances. The athletic community is an important venue where our students are challenged to perform at a high level. It is always exciting to watch young men and women accomplish tasks that were once thought impossible and, though difficult, watch them learn to handle defeat with grace. One of the many valuable lessons that competition teaches our students is perseverance. If victory is to be achieved, coaches and players must be able to move past mistakes and maintain an intense focus on the task at hand. In his letter to the Philippians the Apostle Paul wrote, “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Paul moved past the mistakes of his prior life as the Pharisee Saul and is intensely focused on his desire to know Christ. It is one of my great hopes that our students use what they learn at DCA to press toward the heavenly prize for which God has called them. Please join me in praying this into the lives of our students as we also cheer them on to victory. It is a true blessing for all five members of the Schierling family to be Wildcats!

Coach John Berti

Middle School/Assistant Athletic Director It is exciting to kickoff another year of athletics at DCA! Our mission is to teach in truth and challenge each individual to be a Christ-like leader as they engage with today’s culture. One of the ways we do this happens within the context of our athletic teams. We are blessed to have a coaching staff that invests in the lives of our student-athletes on and off the field. These young men and women develop leadership qualities that will shape their future. How exciting it is to know that God is at work in this process and that we are privileged to be a part of His story! It is my prayer that we honor God with the way we compete and cheer for our teams this year. Let us be an encouragement to one another in this regard.
