HHO Conversions in the USA

HHO car conversions are almost becoming a trend in some parts of America. Texas, Florida and California account for over 200,000 HHO enthusiasts. The most frequently converted cars are Ford, Toyota and GMC. Across the globe there are over 2 million families with an HHO hybrid.

So What Is An HHO Car?

Currently an HHO car is really just a bog standard production vehicle with an HHO kit attached. Even that may sound a bit complicated, but it is not at all. The chemistry is easy. Making and fitting your own HHO system is quick and easy. It is also very cheap, costing less than $130 in materials. A good instruction manual in unavoidable, but they can be downloaded from the internet for about $50-$60.

Why Oxyhydrogen?

The basic idea of an HHO hybrid is to save money on costly gasoline. This is achieved by producing a much more efficient burning gas, HHO or oxyhydrogen gas, to replace some of the gasoline as combustion occurs in the car or truck's engine. The HHO is almost entirely free once the kit is installed.

Gas from Water

HHO is produced from plain old tap water. The water is held in a high temperature resistant reservoir. Most HHO systems use only around a quarter of a gallon of water, at most. Power is supplied by the vehicle's battery which passes an electric current through the water. An electrode contained within the receptacle or reservoir acts as a catalyst. Hydrogen bubbles away from the

negative terminal while oxygen is generated from the positive terminal.

Oxygen and Hydrogen

As a good instruction manual will demonstrate, the resultant gas is a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen which combine into various forms of HHO. Some people call it oxyhydrogen gas, others Brown's gas and yet others Klein's gas. The name does not matter. What is important is that besides being free, it burns four or five times better than gasoline.

The benefits are obvious. To start with gas savings of up to 60% can be made. Less fuel is used and miles to the gallon increase. Urban driving is the main beneficiary of such a system.

An HHO car will also outperform its previous self. Acceleration is increased as well as torque. That makes it great for both nippy cars around town as well as for USVs, trucks and lorries. It does beg the question of why don't automobile manufacturers fit such systems as a matter of course. But then we all know the story about the intention life expectancy of light bulbs.

IRS Rebate

But good old Uncle Sam has taken up the banner, to some extent. The IRS will give a tax rebate of $2,000 to anyone who converts his vehicle to HHO. Receipts are necessary as proof, so do keep hold of them. In fact, for a heavy goods vehicle, up to $50,000 can be claimed back on your tax bill.

Considering that no harm can be done to an existing engine by installing an HHO car kit, it is unsurprising that so many folk are flocking to it once they hear about it.
