Waikato Stud Matamata Swifts v Waikato Unicol WaiBOP Premiership - 2.45pm
Richardson Racing Stables Swifts Reserves v Kawerau Sports WaiBOP Championship - 12.30pm Matamata Domain | Saturday September 19, 2015
A Few Kind Words Today we host another couple of home games for the Swifts and Swifts reserves. There are certainly worse ways to head towards the end of the season. Welcome to today’s opponents, Waikato Unicol and Kawerau Sports. This is Unicol’s fourth game in eight days 2015 so we’re obviously hoping they’re more than a little bit Management knackered! Kawerau can win the Championship today, or Committee at least secure a deserved promotion, so I’m expecting we’ll see a willing encounter in the early game. Patron Last week, for us, was the opposite of the week before, Jack Poole with two somewhat harsh narrow defeats. That’s football and I guess it’s now blindingly obvious to us, if it wasn’t President before, why clubs pay big money for players who can stick Julie Clothier the ball in the net. Vice-President Congratulations to the Challenge Matamata Swifts Malcolm Raynel Ladies team on winning the Waikato Plate final. The win Treasurer is solid reward for a good season’s work by the ladies. Dave Mann I think I called it last week, but I’ll only claim a small Secretary amount of the credit... Debbie Sankey I’d like to thank everyone from the club who was involved in the recent annual Lions Fertiliser Drive. It Club Captain was great to see a good cross section of club members Ronan Costello involved and I know the Lions were pleased with our Committee support of this event. At this stage the proceeds from Pete Challis the Drive are well into five figures, of which we receive Ana Paterson half, so it was extremely worthwhile. This money will be Junior Convenor used to help get our U-19s to Napier this year, as well as Cathy O’Callaghan purchase gear for senior and junior teams. Club Development Mgr Next Saturday we’ll wrap things up for the 2015 season Dwayne Barlow with a Swift-acular day of football. The Ladies get things going at 10.30am, followed by the ressies and then the Swifts. It’s pretty cool how things have worked out and I’m sure everyone will enjoy the day. Dwayne Barlow, Club Development Manager PICTURED Front Cover Gary Dobson heads clear against Old Blues last Saturday. Page 3 Josh Oed puts everything into his header against West Hamilton last Saturday.
