Ready for Good Neighbor Days 2010? By Starrla Cray Staff Writer The 2010 Good Neighbor Days promises to be an exciting summer weekend, with food, sports, games, and plenty of good times to share with fellow Howard Lake neighbors. Activities will begin Thursday, June 24 and run through Sunday, June 27, with the coronation of Miss Howard Lake and princesses Sunday evening. The Queen’s Tea is the first event Thursday, followed by a banquet in the evening, which is catered by a local restaurant. This popular attraction is sponsored by the Howard Lake Business Association. Friday always brings an abundance of activities, such as a petting zoo, root beer floats, and a Pee Wee Reese Baseball Tournament at Yager Field. An Orphans Baseball Tournament at Memorial Park follows the pee wee tournament. During the games, burgers and fries are available at a stand near the fire station. In the evening, the fire station has a beer garden, and KRWC has a road show with music, games, and prizes. A kiddie parade also takes place Friday evening. Later on, Security State Bank and the City of Howard Lake provide a fireworks show. If it rains, the fireworks are postponed to Saturday night.
Books are sold Saturday at the community room.
