*THE CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: It is the Lord, our God, who has saved us and lifted us up! People: Let us remember our baptism; let us remember our Lord. Leader: In God’s great mercy, God has appointed a Savior to go through a baptism of great suffering and death in our stead. People: Let us remember our baptism; let us remember our Lord. Leader: Come, let us worship the Lord, our God, and give God praise for our salvation! *OPENING PRAYER (in unison) God of life, we praise you for the faith and love of these young disciples. With your blessing they have grown strong and true. Today they accept for themselves the grace you offered them at their baptism. Today they make a lifelong commitment to serve and honor you. Strengthen them to fulfill the vows they make this day in all their future decisions. Help them discover their true calling through the gifts you have given them. Show them the wonders of your Spirit at work, so that their faith will become richer and deeper. Keep them ever in your care. Amen. *HYMN OF CELEBRATION “ Love Divine, All Loves Excelling“

Hymnal #384

INVITATION CONFESSION AND PARDON (in unison) Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy.

Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Pastor: Hear the good news. Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! People: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! All: Thanks be to God. Amen. THE LORD’S PRAYER

THE PRESENTATION OF THE 2010 CONFIRMATION CLASS Pastor: Brothers and sisters in Christ: Through the Sacrament of Baptism we are initiated into Christ's holy Church. We are incorporated into God's mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit. All this is God's gift, offered to us without price. Through confirmation, we renew the covenant declared at our baptism, acknowledge what God is doing for us, and affirm our commitment to Christ's holy Church. (Confirmands come forward as presented) Today, we present these young people to be confirmed: 9:00 a.m. Sidney Lane Bussler • Tyler Louis Day • Christopher Joe Dilli Samuel Edward Juetten • Christina Nicole Winkler Jesse Howard Winkler • Holly Ann Wozniak 10:30 a.m. Shane Geary Carr • Logan Ryan Eisenbeiser Bailey Elizabeth Erwin • Grant William Groseth • Eric Joseph Jelen Kathryn Christine Krupinsky • Angela Rae MacIsaac Max Dorvil Pickard-Brown • Kayleigh Joan Porritt Arielle Marie Rosenblum • Ross Elliot Wheeless Paul William Wilson • Peter George Wilson • Kelly Rose Wood RENUNCIATION OF SIN AND PROFESSION OF FAITH To the confirmands: Pastor: On behalf of the whole Church, I ask you: Do you renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers of this world, and repent of your sin? Do you accept the freedom and power God gives you to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves? Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior, put your whole trust in his grace, and promise to serve him as your Lord, in union with the Church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and races? According to the grace given to you, will you remain faithful members of Christ's holy Church

and serve as Christ's representatives in the world? To the congregation: Pastor: Do you, as Christ's body, the Church, reaffirm both your rejection of sin and your commitment to Christ? People: We do. Pastor: Will you nurture one another in the Christian faith and life and include these persons now before you in your care? People: With God's help we will proclaim the good news and live according to the example of Christ. We will surround these persons with a community of love and forgiveness, that they may grow in their trust of God, and be found faithful in their service to others. We will pray for them, that they may be true disciples who walk in the way that leads to life. To the congregation and confirmands: Pastor: Let us join together in professing the Christian faith as contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Do you believe in God the Father? We believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. Do you believe in Jesus Christ? We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again; He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. Do you believe in the Holy Spirit? We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. BAPTISMS As confirmands prepare to be baptized or confirmed, all are joined by parents and mentors. Pastor: (Name), I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Holy Spirit work within you, that being born through water and the Spirit, you may be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Amen. CONFIRMATION OF FAITH Pastor: Remember your baptism and be thankful. Amen. Water is used symbolically as those being confirmed reaffirm their baptismal vows. (Name), the Holy Spirit work within you, that having been born through water and the Spirit, you may live as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Amen. RECEPTION INTO THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH To the confirmands: Pastor:

RECEPTION INTO DAYSPRING To the confirmands: Pastor:
