ten years ago, tabla maestro Bickram Ghosh had an idea that would revolutionise the concept of fusion music both in India and internationally. Not just satisfied with being one of the world’s best tabla players, Bickram wanted to spearhead something truly new and exciting. A unique, fresh sound was about to emerge on the Indian music scene. In early 2000’s, Bickram played the OM and Across Borders concerts with musicians and friends Niladri Kumar, Pulak Sarkar, V. Suresh, Guru
Pt. S. Sekhar and others. Bickram’s compositions came to life on the tabla, heightened with the addition of these brilliant musicians. These early shows were to later determine the direction that Rhythmscape eventually took. In May 2001, the band was officially named Rhythmscape. In 2002 with the addition of many more musicians and collaborators, the unconventional and groundbreaking self-titled album Rhythmscape was released by Sony Music, launched by none other than Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy. The album received fantastic
reviews and is still on the charts years after its release. The Rhythmscape tour performed to sold-out concerts across the globe and continues to do so even today. In 2006, the second longawaited album Beyond Rhythmscape was released by Bickram Ghosh and his group and instantly became a top seller in the fusion market. Bickram, the pioneer and ever creative force behind Rhythmscape got Kailash Kher and Shubha Mudgal on board as well. Beyond Rhythmscape was more
