What qualifications are needed for engineering jobs? Qualifications for careers in engineering vary depending on the sector you select, but the following are the basic requirements for most engineering jobs: Graduate Route GCSEs (generally A*- C) A-Levels (incl. Non-Graduate Route Apprenticeship schemes Requires 5 GCSEs Scheme includes study towards engineering diploma and progression to Operator Higher apprenticeship Requires A-Levels in relevant subjects Apprenticeship leads to HND or Foundation Degree, leading to incorporated Engineer roles.
