OFF TO A GREAT START! Looking back to the end of the summer some eight months ago, it is hard to remember how we got to where we are now as we get the team ready to race in Ft. Lauderdale in a week. After we closed on the sale of the facility to the new non-profit and closed out the summer season, the pool was drained and nearly $700,000 in renovations were completed. When we re-opened in September, we had to really scramble to take over operations and get our programs up and running. By October / November we had gotten a grip on the flow of monies in and out of the business and had established our basic operating procedures. On the “wet” side of things - the more familiar side - coaches were coaching, kids were swimming and diving and the season progressed even under the specter of the crumbling economy. Read on for details of a great start in the newest chapter at Schroeder.

Three new programs including Super Stars, Tr i a t h l o n Tra i n i n g a n d Home Schooled Aquatics have brought many new athletes to Schroeder. Camps and Clinics, Water Exercise / Aerobics and new offerings like 3 x S help draw more attention to Schroeder.

SC HR OE DE R Schroeder ReOpens to Host 8 Major Events in Just 5 Months I n t h e l a s t fi v e months, the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center has been host to eight major meets. Western Great Lakes Open, Y Finalist, Schroeder Winter Invite, Schroeder A+, W.I.A.C. Conference Championships, Horizon League Conference Championships, Speedo Championships and the WI YMCA State Championships. In all, 8500 athletes and spectators, over 27 days, have enjoyed the newly remodeling Wa l t e r S c h r o e d e r A q u a t i c C e n t e r. Approximately $1.5 million was spent on hotels, food and entertainment during those contests in the l o c a l c o m m u n i t y. Playing host to major contests is a big reason the Aquatic Center was constructed and reinforces why Schroeder remains an essential major competitive aquatic facility.
