THE EFFECT OF 4 P’S IN CANTEEN STALL BY: BRYAN L. TAN NERY The canteen is one of the most essential place in the school’s premise of the students; it is where they enjoy their breaktime, recess , lunch break or even their leisure time. Eduflow(2013) stated that “A great portion of students stays in school during the day, these students make up a captive market for canteen stalls.” It is extremely important to check whether the products are managed and served well for the betterment of those who avail in what these operators have to offer. In addition to the previous statement, “It is a need for a canteen to supply services and merchandise at a high quality and rational prices; Their services are major resources that produces the students food preferences and other supplies.” John Bennet 2007, expressed that “Buyers plays a significant role in the exchange process, because without them exchanges would break. The needs and wants of the buyers are the reason and the focus of the success in the market. If the market does not understand the buyer, the demands of potential buyers cannot possibly be attended to. When prospect buyers are unsatisfied, the exchange would wobble and the goals of the marketer cannot be met.” In the book, Customer Satisfaction: What the Research Tells Us(2007), “Customer Satisfaction definition has been put into so much deliberation because attempts of measuring it had increased. Both goods and services are connected to customers satisfaction and can be felt in various forms. The expectations of customers have greatly contributed to the assessment of satisfaction. It differs depending on the situation; a customer may be satisfied with a product, service, experience, a purchase decision, a salesperson, store, an attribute or any of these. How successful


the organization is at providing products is measured through the satisfaction of customers.” Satisfaction may also reflect the business’ relationship with its customers. As described by the EconomicTimes, “Price, Product, Promotion and Place; these constitute a common marketing mix. Marketing mix is concerned to the activities or strategies utilized by a company or business to promote its product in the market .”[4] In addition Martin (2014) expressed that “Marketing mix is a proven major element in terms of the success of ones’ business. It is formulated to satisfy both the consumer and seller through the use of this tool. Experts developed the 4P’s to secure the growth and implementation of an effective marketing strategy.”
