darnel MYERS darnel.myers@hotmail.com
( More than just Architecture ) I would like to take this opportunity to Introduce myself as Darnel a qualified enthusiastic young professional from Trinidad and Tobago of the Caribbean. I have completed my Masters in Architecture at Anhalt University of Applied Science in Germany (Bauhaus). Prior to this in 2015, I completed my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Architecture at the University of Technology in Jamaica. I have worked as an Engineering Technician, Assistant Project Manager Architectural Designer and a Graduate Landscape Architect. During these tenures I was assigned design and construction responsibilities for Civil and Architectural works. These opportunities have equipped me with strong organisation skills, accurate oral communication and good interpersonal skills. My interest outside of Architecture constantly pushes me to learn, grow and view the world from a wider perspective. I am passionate about being physically active. This can be as simple as a walk with the dog or as daring as cliff diving. I prefer to be a part of a dynamic ambitious group instead of the star player of a team.

Master Thesis Value In Material Substitution Category - Residential Housing Type
- Plastic Waste Material Substitution
Year
- 2019
I have embarked on a Thesis project that focuses on innovative ways for the Built Environment to prepare and utilize recycled plastic waste material into residential housing. The Architype, has high value in accessibility, durability and affordability. It will be done by collecting and sorting plastic waste from the local landfill. The waste is then sent to a production factory where the process of Shredding, Extrusion, Injection and Compression takes place. To achieve assembly I have simplified the housing construction to a catalogue of building elements. These elements similarly to timber joinery can be smartly arranged to mimic traditional building elements or dear to be something more. The Character of the building is emphasized by it elements. It creates a new typology of housing one that can be generated from monetized waste collection. The unusual aesthetic of the house comes from the up-cycled plastic material and its countless formal arrangement. A project where the first phase will start as disaster relief housing / low income housing but has the potential to grow into bespoke housing.
