RESTORATION OF KILLARNEY HOUSE AND PLEASURE GROUNDS & GARDENS.

The Killarney House was the residence of the McShain family (American philanthropists) and mansion of the Killarney National Park until the 1980s, when the house was donated to the Irish state. The restoration of the 18th Century house was the largest single investment in any tourism project in 2011. The house will be developed as a visitor centre with some of the formal rooms being restored, used to display its valuable collection of antiques. The visitor centre will include state-of-the-art technology in a new extension, including an audio visual room, exhibition space for temporary exhibitions and cul tural events. The former pleasure grounds and gardens around the house will also be restored to their former glory. Location: Killarney National Park, Ireland. Cost of the project: â‚Ź7 million. Area: 1.900 msq. Stage: Phase 1:Tender, Construction, Site operations. Phase 2: Sketch, Tender. Role in the project: Architect, Clerk of Works. Scale of the project: Historical Residence.

No 93 Merrion Square is a medium sized 18th Century mid-terrace Townhouse located in the North East side of Merrion Square. The entire house will be refurbished, conserving and restoring the original fabric as much as possible to provide accomodation to modern standards. Many of the clumsily subdivided rooms will be returned to well-proportioned open plan spaces with natural ventilation. The building had been in general offices use and is in need of refurbishment. A new full height lift structure will allow universal access. Location: 93 Merrion Square, Dublin, Ireland. Cost of the project: â‚Ź1.5 million. Area: 708 msq. Stage: Project planning, tender stage. C O L O M B O D E S I G N DOOR HANDLE DESIGN COMPETITION

The New York serie: Manhattan, Astoria and Williamsburg door handles are made entirely of brass and follow the colombo design's standard galvanic treatment. The surface is finished in chrome or matt chrome. The insert can be in plastic, red matt finish, to recall the colombo design colours or in fsc certified wood. FSC (forest stewardship council) certified wood is a worldwide recognised sustainable forestry standard leading to responsible forest management. FSC wood in fact achieves a more equal and equitable representation of global forest resources, their biodiversity and social benefits derived there from. The production of the door handle could be realized via forging for better resistance or casting. The coloured insert, above all in wood, is very versatile because it can be used to recall the colour of the flooring or the general ambient colour of the room or office or for more design purposes.

MINOR

UNIVERSITY

PROJECTS AND DRAWINGS

Teatro della Limonaia, Sesto Fiorentino, Firenze. The project of the new Limonaia Theatre has immediately showed its difficulty for the situation of the place, for the integration with the XVI century Villa Medicea and above all for the morphological situation of the area. The area of interest in fact is placed in a real “natural terrace”, formed under the mountain just next to it. The new Teatro della Limonaia, is distinguished by a double structural typology: the roof in brise-soleils held by a system of columns in RC and bricks, and the building, in glass and panels with a internal structure in RC.
