EBEC at a glance In August 2011, BEST will organise the final of European BEST Engineering Competition (EBEC). EBEC gathers the top engineering students in Europe, the winners of local, national and regional engineering competitions which BEST organises this year. Participants will be competing in two categories - Team Design and Case Study. They will be working in teams, using their technical and soft skills, cultural awareness and creativity to find a solution for a given problem.

Structure This year, 5000 participants will join local engineering competitions at their home universities. The winners of these local rounds advance to the national (or regional) level. These competitions will determine the best of the best, who will then participate in the European final. In total, 96 finalists will be present at EBEC to make their dream come true in the ultimate final. The Team Design competition consist in building a device as a solution to solve a technical problem in a limited time and a limited availability of materials. 2

"Sharing incredible moments were exceptional. I learned a lot on how with Europeans in a competitive to cooperate and communicate during team work for competitions. The contact atmosphere!" When I joined the Local Engineering Competition in Grenoble, I didn’t know that it would bring me so many joys and discoveries. At no point did we think that we could win, the other participants being as fierce competitors as us. Yet in the end here we are: France is 2nd at EBEC’s Case Study and the moments that we lived with other European students of technology 4

with companies was also a key factor to the success of EBEC 2010; I now feel closer to various large European corporations, because I had personal contacts with representatives of these companies.
