BACK RIGHT PERSPECTIVE

CANADIAN WESTERN BANK COMPETITION I placed in the top 20 in the Canadian Western Bank Competition. The design concept is based around the word flourish. Canadian Western Bank outlined requirements for what to include on both the main and second floors. Sketchup, IRender, Illustrator, Photoshop, and AutoCad programs were used to create the 3D models, renderings, bubble diagrams and floor plans.

CHURCHILL INFORMATION CENTER INSPIRATION

FLOORPLAN

MODEL

DESIGN CONCEPT Researching what Churchill, Manitoba is known for and what drew most people to visit this city, I found the above inspirational pictures. From these four pictures I incorporated them in to the final design. Keeping the floor plan in mind I had to make sure that the overall concept would represent Churchill while making the floor plan functional. First I completed a model in SketchUp before creating it out of foam core. This not only gave me a blueprint to build the model but I was able to experiment with different peaked connections and materials. High peaks were included in the floor plan, wall connections, and window features. As well, the overall building somewhat resembles a iceberg, Secondly, the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights ), which are incredible to see from Churchill, were incorporated into the overall design. Lastly, I created a clerestory lighting feature that included stained glass resembling many of the common colors found in the Northern Lights.

PHOTOSHOP RIGHT: Rendering using PhotoShop. We were given a blank outline of a building both in elevation and in plan. From there we added a selected background and created out own finishes. Rendering was all completed using PhotoShop. BELOW: Using PhotoShop we added color and shadows to the above floor plan to make it more presentable.


PHOTOSHOP RIGHT: This is an inspirational collage that was created in PhotoShop. The inspirational word that was chosen is Luminous.

Environmental Design Showcase A Celebration to enjoy students’ work.


SKETCHUP AND IRENDER We were given a AutoCad file of the below building. In SketchUp we imported the elevations and created a 3D model. To create the logo we inserted a PhotoShop file and then created a 3D logo to use on the building. From the 3D model we selected finishes and rendered the images using IRender.
