Editorial was not my strongest design work. It was difficult trying to come up with a layout. The goal was to create something experimental and fun. Magazines can be very experimentally and fun to read if it is done in a certain way. The concept for this project

12 12

was to make sure what was needed while reading a passage. Taking away most of the typical elements of a regular magazine, I then thought of new ways to improve the interaction with the readers. For example, the pull quotes can also be read as shapes which can make the story visually interesting. With that in mind, the layout of the pages are purposely narrow to engaged the readers and so the readers can easily read down the page. 12

CRAFT * 22 22

This is my menu design for the Restaurant named Craft. The goal for this assignment was to focus only on typography. Many inspirations were taken for this design. The design dates back to old American Menu design, which had very little graphical element. The menu from the time was simple enough to serve its own purpose. I believe that is the true beauty when designing a menu. So therefore, I played with the typeface color and the various sizes.

Personally, I believe the main element of a menu design is the restaurant atmosphere and how they want to make their customer enjoy their stay. And therefore, the elegance of the typography shows that by connecting itself with the glassware and the tablecloth. Everything adds a little touch, including the matchbox that I also designed.

This book design was to help me understand more in-depth about typography. I wanted to create a comfortable reading space between the readers and the page while giving the appropriate size. While I was designing this, the small details of basic typography were carefully looked for each page of the book. Included the title page towards the actual passage itself. Overall, I wanted to keep the book appearance as close to the story as possible. The illustrations were inputted, but didn't want to be a distraction but also give an idea of "looking and seeking adventure" The cover of the book is intentionally kept blank to relate the idea of "Invisible Cities".

Graphic Design A.A. Trabucco Campos Magazine This is a poster series for Ad Reinhardt solo exhibition at David Zwirner Gallery.

My primary focus for this project was to make a graphic work similar to his concept and his artwork. While learning about how color and how it interacts with each other, I then, realized that color can alter and play with our vision. Another factor came to this design is that I wanted to emphasize on his solo show. Using one of the letters from his last name to represent the idea of the solo show. To use the letter i gave me a better understanding of what the composition was going to be. That is how I incorporate typography into this design. The poster is intentionally very subtle to get people's attention. However, as you walk towards it, you will start to notice the graphical elements. This visual concept is very similar to Reinhardt's paintings. Many inspirations were also taken by color masters like Josef Albers, James Turrell, and Ad Reinhardt himself.

Putting up the poster themselves was very difficult. I had to find the right sunlight to show the poster where it shouldn't be too noticeable or not noticeable at all. I wanted the scenery to be empty, so I went to Brooklyn. The buildings in Brooklyn have beautiful distressed colors that best represents New York City.

This location was perfect for this color poster. Although this isn't exactly Reinhardt's color choice, I wanted to play more with color. Therefore, I took the advantage to find colors around Brooklyn that would be neutral with my poster. The fences here are a perfect contrast.

TYPOGRAPHY CLASS WITH RICHARD MEHL

Graphic Design A.A. Trabucco Campos Typography class was very enjoyable for me and it is my Magazine favorite class. I was able to try various techniques in my work and make them very experimental. Richard Mehl gave us much valuable knowledge about the basics of type and how to use them correctly. Mehl helped opened my eyes and pay attention to negative shapes. Which I believe, made me a better designer.

Wolfgang Weingart is one of my favorite typographers. His technique is very hands-on and imports them as digital to create an experimental feeling. Most of his concepts are based on the landscape. While being very influenced by Weingart, it helped me to realize that the possibility for experimental design are endless.

This assignment was based on the traditional English song called "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" is a cumulative song — each verse is built on top of the previous verses. Since there are twelve verses, each describing a gift given by "my true love" on one of those days, I then realized that I can do something with repetition. So instead of doing illustrations or graphical element to visualize the song of each day, I focused only on typography. I designed where the front of the card will always be the first part of the verse and then back will continue to the second part of the verse. Colors were limited to the 12 colors of the traditional color wheel and in an A5 format.

Graphic Design This was another poster assignment Magazine in my graphic design class. We were tasked to design a musical festival poster for Oracle which included numerous artists. My approach here was to design a motion poster which continuously loops. Motion graphics have been used within posters to get people's attention. I took this advantage and played around with Cinema 4D and After Effects.

for each day. I then wanted to use only typography for the logos and Motion graphics for my concept. My inspiration for this was the typographic text that is a feature in news channels for television. The text that is moving across the screen is the best way for readers to absorb that information comfortably. Therefore, I wanted to create an app that gives enough information about the weather. I was also inspired by Enle Li's work called WORDS. He used only typography to express and visually illustrate everything in this world. And because of that, I realized how powerful typography can be as an graphical element in design.

Each winter trillions of snowflakes fall from the sky. Every snowflake is unique unto itself. No two are exactly alike. Their only similarity is that each snowflake has six (6) spokes emanating from a center focal point. Using only letterforms, design twelve (12) different snowflakes using the schematic diagrams indicated below as a point of departure. Type can touch, overlap, intersect or stand alone in the creation of your design. Each solution should be executed in black and white unless your concept dictates the use of color.

Each letter was carefully constructed from my perspective of a Woman's beauty. Each letter was constructed very simply by outlining with my handwriting. Afterward, the lines would grow outside of the letters. Just like a woman to emphasize courage and beauty. So to make this project interesting, I did my typeface base on the title sequence from the film. The typeface is called Woman.
