Nutrishare Welcomes: Dane De Luca, RN, BSN, CWON Dane De Luca, RN,BSN,CWON joins Nutrishare as a Wound and Ostomy Consultant. She is a Certified Wound and Ostomy Nurse with over 28 years of experience in this nursing specialty. Dane has worked in home health and presently is the CWON in an outpatient ostomy clinic and inpatient hospital setting. “A friend of mine convinced me to volunteer at The Painted Turtle Camp for five days during the Summer of 2010. She thought I would help out with the kids who were attending camp with ostomies. What a fabulous experience. I met Reid Nishikawa, a Pharmacist from Nutrishare who was there to lend a hand and volunteer with setting up TPN and tube feeds for many of the kids attending that camp session. It was an eye opener for all of the volunteers to participate in the 24/7 routine that parents maintain to keep their children with medical challenges healthy and at home. Reid asked if I would be interested in speaking at Nutrishare’s Consumer Education Conference and I was delighted to participate in the program this past August. I know there are probably many Nutrishare consumers
who are interested in a private conversation about their individual ostomy needs and challenges. One of my many roles as a Certified Ostomy and Wound Care Nurse is to keep up with all new products The variety and number of different supplies that are now manufactured to improve the life of an ostomate is truly amazing. There were very few product choices when I entered this Nursing specialty 28 years ago.” Please contact Marianne Opilla or your Primary Clinician to request a consult, as they will provide Dane with your information. She will then contact you via email or phone. Dane is pleased to be a part of Nutrishare and looks forward to working with you.

Best wishes to the entire Nutrishare family in 2012. Nutrishare continues to improve its service mission both in front of and behind the scenes. Welcome back Nutrishare clinical team! We presented three clinical posters at the 2012 ASPEN conference (Clinical Nutrition Week), in Orlando, FL. Traveling Education Seminars With the economy making it more difficult for some of our consumers to travel to a national conference, we will embark on a two year mission to bring the same high level of consumer education to a city near you. The pilot 1/2 day seminar was held in Boston in December 2011 and consisted of: a) Luncheon b) Eight roundtable sessions c) Optional post-conference group activity and dinner. The participant feedback was very positive. To accommodate busy schedules, the face-to-face education and fellowship goals of the 1/2 day seminar could be accomplished in a single afternoon, in a location that is convenient to more of our consumers. Upcoming 2012 seminars are being planned for: • May 12, 2012 in Miami, Florida (Fountainbleau Hotel) • September 2012 in Seattle, Washington (TBA) • November 2012 in Los Angeles, California (JW Marriott, LA Live center) 2013 Seminar target sites being considered: Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas. Pharmacist changes: Please join us in wishing John Siepler the best as he returns to academia after being part of the our Primary Clinician (PC) team for the past seven years. John has provided a high level of clinical support to many of our consumers and has been instrumental in allowing Nutrishare to contribute to the Parenteral Nutrition field’s body of knowledge. Please also welcome the newest additions to our PC team; Davina Ngo, Pharm. D. and Eve Lopriore, Pharm. D.. New Ostomy Specialist Consultations Dane De Luca, RN, BSN, CWON, has joined our clinical team to provide ostomy and wound care consultation. COBRA and Disability Extension of Coverage If an individual is entitled to COBRA continuation coverage because of a termination of employment or reduction in hours of employment, the plan generally makes continuation of coverage available for 18 months. However, if the individual is disabled (as determined by the Social Security Act) and satisfies the applicable notice requirements, the plan must provide COBRA continuation coverage for 29 months. This extension of coverage also applies to non-disabled family members. If you are eligible for COBRA and are disabled, make certain that you notify the COBRA administrator of your disability within the required time frame. Contact us if you have any questions or require assistance with COBRA coverage or any insurance issues. 1 800 HOME TPN Jody x7828, Jeannine x7829, Wendy x7830
ASK LIZ Elizabeth (Liz) Tucker Consumer Advocate Nutrishare, Inc. In January, Senator Amy Klobuchar held a Health Forum in Edina, MN to address the current shortages of medications and the “pay-for-delay” of new generic drugs. She has introduced legislation that would require faster notification by drug companies when shortages are going to occur. This would allow time to either find other companies to produce the drug or get them from Europe or Canada. Another participant was Jon Leibowittz, Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC is looking into the legality of a brand name drug company paying a generic drug company to keep their drug off the market. Because generics cost approximately 15% of a name brand drug, this is a very bad deal for consumers.
Nutrishare Research Nutrition Week . . . Nutrishare clinicians attended Clinical Nutrition Week (CNW) January 21 - 24, 2012 in Orlando, Florida. The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) develops and plans the yearly CNW. Since 1976, ASPEN has been dedicated to improving patient care by advancing the science and practice of nutrition support therapy. In keeping with Nutrishare’s high standard of providing our consumers with up to date, evidence-based nutrition support therapy, attendance to CNW helps us to stay current with the latest research as well as new and upcoming technologies. Nutrishare clinicians also get the opportunity to network with national and international experts in clinical nutrition. As active ASPEN members, Nutrishare clinicians participate at ASPEN meetings as speakers, poster presenters and committee members. This year at CNW, Nutrishare’s following research posters were accepted by ASPEN and were included in the event... Executive Assistant Northridge, California
Hello all! I have been working for Nutrishare for 11 years as an Executive Assistant to Dr. Thomas Diamantidis out of Northridge, CA. My job is to assist Tom in a broad spectrum of administrative tasks and help out with the Educational Conferences where I can. Tom has been a very warm and caring boss, I could not ask for better. Tom and Rod make Nutrishare a pleasure to work for and it is very rewarding to see the positive influence and the many ways they have enhanced the lives of Nutrishare Family consumers. In my personal life I have a great family. I have been married for 30 years to Peter who is semi-retired. We have two beautiful daughters who keep my life interesting. Gina and Elena are 24 and 22 years old. We also have a stepdaughter Janelle, who works in corporate for Levi Strauss. She has been married to Chip for 12 years and has 2 children (our grandchildren), Henry and Eva. They live in San Mateo and we do not get to see them often enough. My hobby is oil painting, all subject matter. Here is a painting of a little boy that I did for my Mom. Painting gives me a lot of joy and relaxation. I bowl on the church bowling league and am a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. I volunteer with their women’s organization, Philoptochos (which means friend of the poor). I am co-chair of Dress for Success. We collect clothing for women in shelters so they can get jobs and be ‘dressed for success’. I need more time to paint, but things are great - thank God.
