T206 Midterm Danielle Tobiashe blue all the way to the end of the world
You & Me-Dave Matthews Band You and I, we're not tied to the ground Not falling but rising like rolling around Eyes closed above the rooftops Eyes closed, we're gonna spin through the stars Our arms wide as the sky We gonna ride the blue all the way to the end of the world
The song You & Me by Dave Matthews Band really inspired me because the lyrics were really uplifting. The verse that I chose made me feel like nothing could hold me down, and I could chase my dreams. In the first picture, I wanted to use the Rule of Thirds by positioning my twin sister on the right side of the shot. She is jumping in the air emphasizing that nothing can hold her down and she has a free soul. The background has trees lined up one by one next to each other. I placed my sister at the end of the trees so show a continuation of the linear objects. The sunlight hitting my sister’s side was meant to show happiness and peacefulness. This was a medium/long shot because I wanted to show the linear aspects of the trees and my sister. The second picture was taken to illustrate a continuation of the road. It also emphasizes distance and how the objects got smaller the farther away they were from the camera. The colors of the green trees and blue sky are vibrant and really complement each other. The road was centered in the middle of the shot so that the viewer could focus on how the road went from wide to almost disappearing because of the distance. In the third picture, I used the Rule of Thirds by shooting in the middle of the two lines of trees. I thought this shot was visually pleasing because the trees have a linear pattern and the shapes are organic. The vibrant colors also complement each other with the greens and blues, which give the picture a sense of nature. There is also sunlight coming from the top of the frame to tie into the lyrics of the song. The forth picture is of the sky at night, which relate to the lyrics of the song. The part that I wanted viewers to focus on was the top of the frame where the pink, purple, and blue colors blend together. I made that the focal point by using the Rule of Thirds. I did not want to make any of the photographs black and white because I thought that the natural colors of the plants and sky were in synch with the lyrics. The last picture is of my sister looking up at the sky with her arms wide open. This is a low angle shot to emphasize that my sister holds power, she can control her life, and nothing can hold her down. This shot relates to the lyrics of the song because it is about being free. I also used Rule of Thirds by placing her on the right side of the frame and the sun is on the other side of the frame. I placed her arm in front of the sun so show that she has godly powers and nothing can stop her from reaching her goals. I also tried to get as much of the blue sky as I could in the shot because it showed that the sky is the limit and she has no restrictions. These visual aesthetics that I used for my inspiration really connected with the lyrics. All of the colors, the shapes of objects, and linear patterns really blended well together.
