Oscar Grant By: Daniel Nino
On January 1, 2009, Oscar Grant was killed by a police officer named Johannes Mehserle. This incident was captured on film by people and was watched by millions of people. They charged the officer Mehserle with murder and was the first officer to get charged in California history. The trial took a year in order for it to start after it started officer Mehserle was found guilty and was going to have a penalty. The penalty would either a maximum of 14 years in prison to as little as probation and time served. The reason Oscar Grant got involved with the cops was that they had a report that said that there was a fight on the train. That is how Grant and some of his friends got removed from the bus and detained. After they took the suspicious people out of the train that was when Grant was shot then handcuffed while there were two big cops on top of Grant.
