Reflection about EDUC presentation: My partners and I worked on the assignment by discussing the material and dividing it up. My group was great, they are awesome to work with and they all had great ideas for our presentation. Once we had the material divided up into four parts, in our own time we got our section on the presentation ready and we sent our information to Coraley. She was in charge of putting the prezi together because she had the most experience with it. When we met up again, we discussed the lesson plan and divided up small things to do, such as getting the materials for our games and the prizes. I believe that our lesson plan was effective and that we had reasonable goals to achieve for the end of the class. I also believe that our presentation was effective and to the point. There are always improvements to be made though! Regarding my specific section, I think that I was able to communicate my information in an effective and logical way. We got together right before our presentation to just make sure that we knew the order of things, and we also timed ourselves and did a mock presentation. Doing this made me feel more confident in our work, and I was getting excited for the presentation. I felt that we were a great group and we worked hard. I must admit I was a bit nervous during the presentation but I felt that we knew our material well. After presenting I was reflecting on some things that we could have done different to make it better. Good Things in presentation: 1) The time that each of our group members talked was about the right amount. We did not talk so much to bore people, and we also didn’t talk too little, so we were able to communicate the information to the students. 2) The video at the beginning of class. At first when we were discussing whether or not to use it in our presentation, I was skeptical about it. But in the end I am glad we used it as an opener for the presentation, I think that the students really liked it. Who doesn’t like cookie monster anyways? 3) Even though it took a little time to get the ‘smack that’ game organized, I think it was a fun an
effective activity. It got the students moving, and thinking about the material for a good solid review. Things that needed improvement: 1) We could have organized our “smack that came better- less chaos and more structure. 2) We should have had more time to review the points before the review game, and ask more questions to the students to see if they understood more. When we did ask questions, I was worried that they did not understand the material. 3) I wish that we could have allowed for a longer wait-time when we asked questions. We all are guilty of not waiting for very long. I think that nerves got the best of us in that aspect, because we were afraid of silence. 4) I probably should have talked slower when I was presenting my part. I felt I might have talked too quickly because I was nervous. I think this skill also comes with practice and experience.
Overall, I had a great time preparing and presenting with my group!
