ARCH 04 Hydrology Center As part of the current renovation of the Seattle waterfront and raising public awareness about the effects of watershed, this building was meant to connect people from downtown to the waterfront. The building serves as a walking path from the business district to Eliott Bay while educating the people who use the pathway about the effects of watershed. The covered pathway allows glimpses into the hydrology center and educates its users in both a passive and interactiveway.
ARCH 06 Community Kitchen
ARCH 08 The Community Kitchen is meant to provide a place where a hot meal and good conversation are free and open to all. Replacing the current ‘soup kitchen that serves the less fortunate with a place where anyone is welcome and all that is asked in return is for a small donation, if possible. This kitchen is meant to bring people together where everyone sits at the same table and can share their story.
Mixed-Use / Infill
Using inspiration from Butte, Montana and its rich history of mining, this mixed commercial, business, and residential building uses a unique cirrculation system that restricts all vertical cirrculation within the building to the outer corridors. Within the outer corridors that sandwich the building, multiple staircases line the corridors creating an intricate experience for its users, similar to mining tunnels, yet allowing them a glimpse into each layer of the building and its uses.
ARCH 11 Jeff Ament Residence
This home was designed for Jeff Ament, the bass guitarist for Pearl Jam, and a Montana native. Located on Main Street in downtown Bozeman, this apartment is meant to allow Ament the freedom needed to pursue his three greatest interests, music, graphic design and physical exercise. Allowing seperate yet easily connected spaces for each of his passions, his creativity and inspiration will be a part of his every day routines.
ARCH 13 Desgn Build
As part of a seismic renovation of the architecture building at Montana State University, myself and a few other students were selected to design furniture for a new study/community area in the building. We designed, built, and installed the furniture into the new common area as well as working simulaneously with the fire department, campus facilities team and campus architect. Each piece was worked and built from simple materials in order to work within the school’s assigned budget. It was completed in 2015.
CONS 15 Construction Detialing Architecture isn’t simply designing the form and space of a building, it is also desiging how a building is made and how each piece comes together to make the whole. Understading the character of materials and its attributes alows for better design ad a more wholistic architecture. A building that is both beautiful and functional is what a true design should strive to be.
