In the last 6.000 years, the surface of our planet earth has undergone a certain change. a new habitat has appeared entirely designed and constructed by one species, for its own purpose. This man-made landscape may seem alien for animal life, but for the bold; this is a world of surprising opportunities.

RIVER ARTS CENTER MOA

1. Horthogonal shape parallel to existing road.

5. Raise up the second shape to assign different heights and improve the view towards Asheville.

2. Extrude an identical shape in a perpendicular position to generate a cross-axis.

3. Push the second shape towards north in order to separate the building from the existing bridge.

6. Connect the two forms with a radial loft between two end faces.

4. Push the second shape towards east in order to bring it closer to the river and create an extended pedestrian bridge.

7. Rise the north-faced walls to create an angled roof to allow natural north light to come in and provide a more adecuate angle for the photovoltaic panels.

8. Create a fluid conection between the two forms by deforming fluidly the upper shape.


The valley of the French Broad River in the Buncombe County, North Carolina, has become an epicenter of exposure to creativity and artistic flair. A hive to highlight local art, it measures more than 50,000 square feet of permanent and changing galleries to celebrate art in any medium possible. The concept of the building relates directly to nature, where everything is cyclical. With the combination of decisions aimed at a more ecological future and the management of steel, the River Arts Center seeks to educate the population of Asheville and the rest of the world the importance of the care we must give to our planet earth. 1. Architecture is a physical representation of what it means to be human - to feel pain, to have empathy; to be alive. Humankind is no stranger to great suffering. Situations where we have chosen to turn our backs on one another are as embedded in our present as they have been in recent past. The ethical line between life and death has been blurred many times as we rage at each other with threats of nuclear warfare and other aggressive actions. We know these stories far too well. Hurricane Irma demolished much of the Caribbean, the Holocaust wiped millions of people from the face of the earth, and the four genocides that followed World War II are just a few of our missteps. Not only do these atrocities continue to occur despite well documented history, but each of these have something powerful in common; migration of the masses. It is human instinct to be resilient, to survive, to leave when hope no longer exists in a place once called home. Problem arise when those who are fleeing do not have access to adequate resources, when they and their humanity are forgotten. The flight becomes equally as atrocious as the initial catastrophe itself. These tragedies and resultant suffering have morphed into the creation of Antidote.


Our network of platforms will be located in eight (8) different spots on earth. The selection process was based on high density population areas, as well as those that are vulnerable to natural disasters and those orchestrated by man. - New York, NY, United States - Honolulu, HI, United States - Buenos Aires, Argentina - Paris, France - Nairobi, Kenya - New Dehli, India - Tokyo, Japan -Sydney, Australia

Antidote, an elevated hub, provides asylum to those who need protection from any type of catastrophe. These range from natural disasters to those orchestrated by man. The notion of caring for one another is at the core of this design. This is done with an understanding of the complex reciprocal relationship that exists between people and space; between culture and architecture. From this platform, pods will fly to locations in need. When the capsules reach land, people recognize them as their escape from a place that is no longer habitable. The pods engage the earth as one, half of it detaches to take those in need back to the hub. Sections left on site provide aid to those who have decided to stay. In a bid to seek refuge, people remove themselves from the very places that shaped them, where they contributed to society, enacted traditions, raised families and shared stories. Antidote is symbolic of having to leave familiar places behind. Like the people, the hub has detached itself from Earth in order to save it. Like a newborn child and its mother, both hub and Earth remain connected to one another. In turn, migrants find themselves linked to their homes through memory.

The skyscraper does not only provide salvation for those who inhabit it but, also to those who remain below. Antidote addresses the scarcity of natural resources by providing its own urban farm that diminishes the exploitation of crops. As a home for thousands, it alleviates issues posed by the exponential increase of inhabitants on Earth. Pollution is minimized by providing a electric transportation train system fed by its own renewable energy. Antidote embodies the values of open borders and inclusivity, inviting all people in need aboard. Antidote marks a return to the principles that built great cities like Aleppo where people of various beliefs once lived together in harmony. Architecture can be more powerful than the budgeted construction of a refugee camp. Too much has happened for it to do any less. It must heal. It should protect the dignity of those in need. It must provide opportunity and shift away from well-intentioned responses to destruction that have gone awry. Architecture must prioritize people’s needs to have a profound impact.


The form of my project is developed as two figures, in order to create intriguing spaces between them. I established the morphology based on addition and subtraction to yield a different kind of space in the concept of an object inside another. Figure # 1 is based on the concept of subtraction, reflected on how I detracted chunks from a main mass and reduced

its volume. Figure #2 is constructed with an addition basis; well there is clearly several chunks added to one main mass. Both objects relate to each other in a figural ground reversal, because it is clearly shown how in one figure it’s a solid surrounded by a voided perimeter while the other one shows exactly the opposite.

GOT THE CHANCE TO DESIGN A FAMILY KITCHEN, PANTRY LAYOUT, CABINET ARRANGEMENT AND MATERIALITY.


CAME UP WITH A COFFEE TABLE MADE ON FOUND OBJECTS. MATERIALS: WOOD PLANK, STEEL MEMBRANES.


Located in the city of Guelph, Ontario; U.FIELDS is a cultural hotspot, letting the horizon line establish a contrast of two opposite environments. Urban Fields is a man-fostered atmosphere where strong geometric forces drive pedestrian circulation and allow different programmatic elements to nest. A park; where materiality, form and function welcomes not only humans, but also includes a home for local wildlife. Under Fields will be the place to be. A cultural hub, connected by underground tunnels, buried by the park. It will develop an interactive area where light, visuals and senses will lead a path to discovery. Aesthetics, detail oriented showcases with a minimalist design and a perfectly curated modernist cuisine are the correct ingredients for a boutique style farmers market. Two vertical oriented elements rise to improve views and room for housing.

Hole punches are going to be portals to the underground areas of the market. Different sizes and textures will acomodate the programatic variations.

The entire roof area of the market will serve as a public and open gathering space.

Programatic elements and existing forces of the site (armory, train rails, etc) will refine the overall morphology of the edification.
