Project Description

Design a hotel and production studio for a reality TV show that we create for seventeen contestants. Given the building, the 7 World Trade, and a base simple floor plan, we must survey the exterior dimensions.

Concept

The reality show I created was a quest to reach your inner spirituality and peace. My concept derived from this reality TV show idea, transparency, reflectance & translucency. These aspects for me deal directly with finding your inner self, reflecting upon yourself, being transparent in order to reach any growth & hiding behind translucency. Varying polygons represent all the different types of people, different yet the same.

Creating The Volumes

First I took the plan of the building and cut it up into irregular polygons. This represents people, all dierent from one another. Then I extruded the volumes up to the full height keeping them separate volumes. Lastly each volume has its own original set of hand drawn irregular polygon extracts.

Project Description

Design a corporate office for WLW, Wind Light Water, is a non-profit organization which promotes sustainability for architects, interior designers, contractors, builders, students, and the public. Within this office WLW will be showcasing various sustainable products & companies. This design is for WLW’s pilot NYC office and will include an exhibit space and office spaces.

Concept

My design inspiration comes from nature, specifically the roots of trees and the growing out of the ground of trees. From this I will create an Urban Forest design for my exhibit space. As for the rest of the office space I focused on functionality and practicality, as well as the open office concept. In the end sustainability will be and is the main function of the entire office complex we are designing.

Project Description

Design a penthouse in Manhattan for a famous client who will be moving either part time or full time to Manhattan. The design should reect the clients aesthetic which is discovered through research. My client was Jonathan Ive, an Apple Company mogul, and his two sons and wife.

Client

Jonathan Ive is the man that saved Apple. Jonathan brought in the new forms & designs revolutionizing Apple and electronics in general. Jonathan's designs for Apple are very modern, sleek, various forms and shapes, translucent candy colored and most importantly functional. Jonathan Ive spends his free time "living a serene life". Jonathan needs the space for him and his family to gather together and spend good family time together. Jonathan needs to be inspired at home as well as relaxed because he spend a lot of hours at work but is always thinking of new ideas. Jonathan's wife Heather needs an oďŹƒce/library for her historian books and studies. The master suite has to be a great size for Jonathan and his wife to have an oasis together. The house should be modern, yet warm, innovative, yet grounded and most importantly comfortable for his family.

Jonathan Ive’s Humble Abode

The design of the penthouse was inspired by Jonathan’s sleek modern product designs. The shelving units were each uniquely designed from scratch. The plan was separated in a way where the public part stays apart from the private part which is what Jonathan enjoys greatly, family time.

Project Description

Design a wine tasting bar in Manhattan for the same client as the residential project, Jonathan Ive. Jonathan Ive was asked to sponsor a prototype design for a wine tasting venue.

Concept

Continuing with the modernism of Jonathan Ive as well as his old world charm. When you enter an Apple store, you quickly know what you are to do and always have help, I brought the same idea into the wine tasting venue. The venue is modern and sleak on the first floor and the basement level is more of the old world, historic wine charm. The first floor has the quickness of an Apple store for the people that just want to come in, taste their wine and leave with a bottle. The basemeent is the appointment, more intimite wine tasting experience, for the returning customers.

Moholy Nagy Painting Analysis

I dissected a Moholy Nagy painting into extreme depths. Researching Moholy Nagy and his typical work and the meaning behind it, I was able to mimic how he created each color and layering of colors.
