AGOURA HILLS MARRIOTT ACRM Architecture & Design
Work on this 225-guestroom hotel in Agoura Hills was done from 2016 to 2018. The property is a combined Marriott Courtyard and TownePlace Suites and includes a ground-floor restaurant, bar and guest lounge, an outdoor patio and pool area, two meeting rooms, and a rooftop deck.
The Bistro was designed with a Deco, beachy Hollywood atmosphere.
The lobby is a centrally located space for the hotel. All guests and visitors pass through this space to get to the suites and secondary spaces.
One of the features in the lobby is a custom textile art piece designed for the stair.
BAR & CAFE
The bar was designed as a transition space; during the day it is a cafe and grab-and-go area for hotel guests and in the evening serves dinner and cocktails.
Much of the work I contributed was to the Reception area. This involved the reception desk, finishes and a custom light fixture.

THE IRVING LA JOLLA: THESIS NewSchool of Architecture & Design
The concept for this project was to reimagine Irving Gill’s historic La Jolla Woman’s Club as a molecular gastronomy culinary school and restaurant. The goals were to address San Diego’s diverse, affluent, growing population, explore a centrail lit space and integrate the outside with the inside.

ROOF FLOOR PLAN
N FIRST FLOOR PLAN
The project involved gutting the roof and replacing with a skylight that shines down into the main dining room.
Lighting Concept The Bubbling Technique in Molecular Cooking was one of the inspirations for the dining room lighting. At left, the Branching Bubble chandelier by Lindsay Adelman.
The Agnes chandelier was chosen to reflect the flatwear and cookware used in molecular cuisine.
The rooftop was a new addition. Since the site is just two blocks from the ocean, adding west-facing cabanas was an opportunity to experience the million-dollar view that hadn’t existed before.
Rooftop Concept Drawing inspiration from the construction and simple beauty of molecular gastronomy plating, the rooftop is meant to feel like an oasis. An elegant light fixture by Lee Broom is used to frame the cabana seating shown at right.

KOLONIE HOTEL: CONCEPT NewSchool of Architecture & Design
In 2017 I was tasked with creating a boutique hotel for the Interior Architecture program at NewSchool. The project I imagined was a repurposed hunting lodge originally built in 1558 in the heart of Berlin, Germany.
Concept Whether in Berlin for a fashion show, design event, business trip, or simply seeking adventure, Kolonie is a luxurious retreat for the Travelers & Creatives among us. Not only are The Suites spaces for guests to feel calm and relaxed in the midst of vibrant Berlin life, the Hotel Lobby itself can be reserved as a venue for art openings, private events and fashion shows.
A Custom Scent for Every Room
Mad et Len perfumers Sandra Fuzier and Alexandre Piffaut have joined forces with Kolonie to bring a unique experience into every guestroom. One-of-a-kind hand-blended scents derived from organic essential oils come together in the form of room fragrances and scented candles, packaged in wrought steel and black apothecary bottles. Each of the guestrooms has a unique scent that has been carefully curated to match the ambience of that space. 8 oz. bottles are available for guests upon check out.

Many universities have a traditional mace carried at commencement ceremonies, often by the valedictorian or a person of esteem. In 2016 I won the NewSchool Mace Competition. At right is the original concept I submitted and above is 2016 Teacher of the Year Dan Manlongat carrying the final product after it was designed.
