THE IRVING LA JOLLA: THESIS NewSchool of Architecture & Design
The concept for this project was to reimagine Irving Gill’s historic La Jolla Woman’s Club as a molecular gastronomy culinary school and restaurant. The goals were to address San Diego’s diverse, affluent, growing population, explore a centrail lit space and integrate the outside with the inside.

ROOFTOP
Design Portfolio
The rooftop was a new addition. Since the site is just two blocks from the ocean, adding west-facing cabanas was an opportunity to experience the million-dollar view that hadn’t existed before.

Rooftop Concept Drawing inspiration from the construction and simple beauty of molecular gastronomy plating, the rooftop is meant to feel like an oasis. An elegant light fixture by Lee Broom is used to frame the cabana seating shown at right.

KOLONIE HOTEL: CONCEPT NewSchool of Architecture & Design
In 2017 I was tasked with creating a boutique hotel for the Interior Architecture program at NewSchool. The project I imagined was a repurposed hunting lodge originally built in 1558 in the heart of Berlin, Germany.

A Custom Scent for Every Room
Mad et Len perfumers Sandra Fuzier and Alexandre Piffaut have joined forces with Kolonie to bring a unique experience into every guestroom. One-of-a-kind hand-blended scents derived from organic essential oils come together in the form of room fragrances and scented candles, packaged in wrought steel and black apothecary bottles. Each of the guestrooms has a unique scent that has been carefully curated to match the ambience of that space. 8 oz. bottles are available for guests upon check out.

Many universities have a traditional mace carried at commencement ceremonies, often by the valedictorian or a person of esteem. In 2016 I won the NewSchool Mace Competition. At right is the original concept I submitted and above is 2016 Teacher of the Year Dan Manlongat carrying the final product after it was designed.
