I am a curious designer. I believe that curiosity and creativity go hand in hand. To solve problems, one should assume nothing. Be curious, observe, ask questions and be open to new ideas, opportunities, and perspectives. SEMESTER Fall 2016

OBJECTIVE In the United States, food waste is a growing environmental issue. The consequences of this trend are more food in our landfills, less food for people, higher greenhouse gas emissions, and loss of natural resources.

APPROACH My project began with online research followed by interviews that aimed to understand an individuals role in wasting food. Using this evidence-based research, I designed five deliverables targeted to address the most significant human behaviors that lead to food waste.

SEMESTER Fall 2016

OBJECTIVE The project objective was to design a series of posters to promote a lecture series about architecture. For each poster we were tasked to create three experimental type forms using any material of choice to represent our chosen theme.

APPROACH For this project, I choose to focus on horizontal, vertical, and free form lines to suggest architectural planning. I used the words “migrate,” “fuse,” and “rise” to represent how these architectural line directions are associated with our own movement in space. To create a unified poster series, I placed each constructed type in a city of blocks. I hand cut hundreds of block pieces and pasted them together to create varying heights of wood columns.

APPROACH I choose episode “566: The Land of Make Believe.” To solve this problem, I began by researching each story. Following the theme of make believe worlds, I decided to create the book in a children’s illustrated style design.

OBJECTIVE The project required choosing a brand that was dead, dying or defunct, and re-branding it to give it a new life. The new directions recognize the company’s original essence but take the brand in a new direction.

APPROACH I choose to re-brand Palm. Palm paved the way for smart technology existing today. They introduced the first multitasking operating system for smartphones which enabled people to stay connected with their family, friends, colleagues, and business organizations at any time. For the re-brand of Palm, I continued to focus on the brand soul. A new target audience, brand visual system, mission statement, and business services were created.

COURSE Principles of UX I N S T RU C TO R Joseph O’Donnell DELIVERABLES App SEMESTER Fall 2017

OBJECTIVE The project objective was to create an app designed to solve a problem for a student in our class.

APPROACH I was teamed up with Nemo, a 27-year-old student from Taiwan. In order to uncover what problem my app would solve I began by asking Nemo a series of questions about her life. Through our conversation, I discovered she had a number of projects she would like to work on outside of school but has trouble motivating herself on her own to get started. My approach was to build a motivational tool where she could accomplish all her projects when time is available.
