vision & values

VISION&VALUES VISION It’s simple. In Matthew 28:18-20(ESV) Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Christ paints the picture of a church that is consumed by evangelism, passionate about discipleship, and willing to lay everything down to take the Gospel to the nations. We want to be that church! Our heart is to REACH, DISCIPLE, and LAUNCH a generation of students who will shake the world with the Gospel.

VALUES At Campus Church, we are:

SPIRIT-LED

Abiding in Christ, we depend solely on His Holy Spirit for our vision and direction.

MAKING DISCIPLES

Jesus told us to “go and make disciples”. We are a church of disciple-making disciples.

KINGDOM FOCUSED

We partner with like-minded believers to take the Gospel to the nations.

GENEROUS GIVERS

The early church was known for generosity. We give freely of all we possess in order that others may come to know Christ.

the story so far

first info meeting takes place.

8 people develop Campus Church vision.

THE STORY SO FAR HOW IT ALL STARTED

Our first meetings took place in the living room of Dallas’ home. We were praying, planning, and dreaming - asking God to do something big. 16 people make the move to the Student Center at KSU.

22 people give $3,000 at Christmas.

As the vision developed people began buying in. Soon, the living room wasn’t quite big enough, so we partnered with the BCM to find space on campus. When Christmas rolled around, we wanted to make an impact on campus, and so 22 people gave $3,000 to supply less fortunate students with food for the holiday season. It wasn’t much, but it birthed in us a desire to be a generous and loving church. One consumed by a passion to show others the love of Christ. The 22 soon grew to many more, and before long we were out of room in the student center.

our service moves to FULC on Campus Loop Road.

In the Spring of 2010, the First United Lutheran Church, a small congregation with property on the westside of campus, began allowing to use their facilities.

(our story continues on the following page.)

1,000 flyers handed out on Monday morning of Exam Week. 450 students treated to free Waffle House & Starbucks at our first ever TAKEOVER Event.

TAKING OVER

As the semester came to a close, we again wanted to reach out to KSU students, thus TAKEOVER was born. TAKEOVER was a one-night event, during finals week, in which students could show up to either Waffle House or Starbucks and eat/drink completely free. The people of Campus Church responded again, giving upwards of $3,000 to make TAKEOVER happen. We served and prayed with 450 students in two locations.

Our second TAKEOVER Event is a great success with over 1,500 students served.

Several students come to know Christ during TAKEOVER or at Campus Church in the weeks following TAKEOVER.

As momentum continued to build, our numbers and giving climbed too. Approaching the start of a new semester, we determined to do a week-long TAKEOVER event for all students. The generosity of our people was tremendous, and over $14,500 was given to provide free meals for students. We saw over 1,500 students attend over the course of 3 days. Several accepted Christ and are now serving at Campus Church. And this is just the beginning...

kennesaw state

KENNESAW STATE

*stats retrieved from the 2008-2009 KSU Factbook

RAPIDLY EXPANDING

Kennesaw State was recently named the fastestgrowing university in Georgia. It is currently the third-largest university in the state with over 25,000 students taking classes.

INTERNATIONAL IMPACT

Over 130 countries are represented by students at Kennesaw State. Many of the countries represented are in the 10/40 window and contain large percentages of unreached people groups.

COOPERATION

Traditional student organizations like BCM, and Campus Crusade are welcoming a local church to the campus, and encouraging students to connect with Campus Church.

THE 92 PERCENT

Best we can tell, of the 25,000+ registered students who attend Kennesaw State, only 8% are connected with a local church or campus ministry. We are a church for the 92%.

YOU CAN HELP With partnership from like-minded believers, we can build a stronger foundation for the future. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of the things we’re praying God will allow us to do (in addition to our existing budget) through the financial support of partners like you.

PERSONNEL NEEDS Hourly Staff..............................................................................................................$30,000 Total.......................................................................................................................$30,000

PERSONNEL NEEDS EXPLAINED Hourly Staff - each member of the lead team spends roughly 15-20 hours per week as a volunteer staff member at Campus Church. Your gift allows us to compensate them at a fair rate and allows them to work bi-vocationally at impacting the campus. It also allows us to hire contracted workers for other needed jobs.

YOU CAN HELP MINISTRY & OPERATING NEEDS Connection Team ........................................................................................................$3,000 Discipleship Resources ...............................................................................................$3,500 TAKEOVER Events ...................................................................................................$15,000 Planning Center (Worship) .........................................................................................$1,200 Website ...................................................................................................................$10,000 Total.......................................................................................................................$32,700

MINISTRY & OPERATING NEEDS EXPLAINED Connection Team - each week our Connection Team transforms our meeting place into a welcoming environment for first time guests. Partnership in this area helps us to provide first time guests with a Bible if they need it, as well as coffee and other refreshments weekto-week. It also allows us to purchase some directional signage, crucial for newcomers who aren’t familiar with our set-up. Discipleship Resources - thanks to a generous gift, we have the resources we need in this area for the first part of 2011. Your gift helps us further in this area. TAKEOVER Events - “I’ve never seen anything like this.” - it’s a common response at every TAKEOVER event we’ve done. Students are overwhlemed by the fact that a local church, made up mostly of their peers, would give so freely. By treating students to free waffles or a cup of coffee, we have an open door to share with them the incredible love of Christ. Planning Center - is a great tool for organizing and managing the volunteers who make up your worship team. This would allow Tim, our worship pastor, to spend less time keeping everyone up-to-date and more time shepherding our church family in worship. Website - we’ll be partnering with Church Plant Media to build a simple, yet effective site that appeals to our generation.

YOU CAN HELP MISSIONS NEEDS Vision Trip ..................................................................................................................$7,500 International Student Outreach ................................................................................$10,000 Total ......................................................................................................................$17,500

MISSIONS NEEDS EXPLAINED Vision Trip - we have a heart to take the Gospel to the nations. Partnership in this area will allow us to take some key leaders on a short-term trip to either India or Tanzania (the 2 countries we feel like God has called us to) to build a relationship with missionaries on the ground and lay the groundwork for future partnership. International Student Outreach - there are over 130 countries represented at Kennesaw State. Many of the international students who attend KSU are going back to their homes after graduation. Because of this, we have a unique opportunity to reach the nations without ever having to leave campus.

OUR HEART IS TO SEE THE GOSPEL PENETRATE THE LOSTNESS, BOTH HERE IN KENNESAW, AND AROUND THE WORLD. In December of 2010, our church family gave $16,500. Remember...we’re talking students here. We partnered with Gospel for Asia to build a church in India and fed over 100 international students here at home.

YOU CAN HELP PROPERTY & BUILDING NEEDS Future Fund .......................................................................................................any amount Total ...............................................................................................................$10,000,000

PROPERTY & BUILDING NEEDS EXPLAINED Future Fund - the Future Fund is set-up to allow us to one day purchase land within walking distance of the university. There are currently several options that we are researching. The amount listed above will provide for the purchase of land as well as the design, planning and building of a new facility when the time comes. We anticipate this being a 5-10 year process, and are trusting God to provide the perfect home for Campus Church.

PARTNERSHIP PRAYING FOR US We believe that prayer propels us forward. The greatest investment you can make in Campus Church is to join us asking God to do an incredible work on the campus of Kennesaw State University. Each month we send out a prayer email that connects you with the needs we have at Campus Church. We believe that together, through prayer, we will accomplish much for His glory.

GIVING WITH US John Henry Jowett said, “Ministry that costs nothing, acomplishes nothing.” In a generation longing for love, there’s a high cost to do ministry effectively. It’s important to note, however, that those who partner with us financially are buying into the vision our church family has already embraced. In essence, we’re not asking you to do anything we’re not already doing...we’re simply asking you to join us in the work. Whether through one-time gifts or through monthly support, your financial contributions allow us to reach the unreached and unengaged students of KSU and the world with the Gospel!

WORKING BESIDE US Throughout the year we have many opportunities for individuals and groups to support the evangelistic work we’re doing on campus and in the community.
