In reference to this painting Morris states, “Weeks was only twenty-seven when he executed this work, but it already shows his developing skills as a fine painter of the figures and animals, as well as his penchant for scenes set in bright sunshine with cool shadows. This can be clearly seen in the luxuriant costume of the standing shepherdess, whose vivid clothing contrasts markedly with the verdant setting." $6000 - 8000
