Tract # 14
Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil ?
We believe the Bible to be true… every word of it. You cannot change the Bible to suit your doctrine. You cannot make the Bible say something that it does NOT say!
The “Doctrine Of Eternal Security” is taught in so many ways! You may contact us and request our Bible Study, called… 21 Bible Reasons Why The TRUE Believer Could NEVER Lose Their Salvation!

Judas Was A Devil… Was he a Christian? Most religions teach that you can lose your salvation! What does your Pastor believe on this subject? You have a right to know the truth! Can A True Child Of God End Up In Hell ??? In a recent conversation, a man told me that Christians can lose their salvation... I asked him if he could name someone in the New Testament who “lost their salvation”? His answer was what I expected it to be... He said, “Look at Judas”. So... we will study the Bible and find out about Judas (the son of perdition).
Read all of John Chapter 17... Right in the middle of this chapter we find a great verse that leads us into this study!
John 17:12 “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.” We will study the verses about Judas, the “son of perdition” later. For now, STUDY each of the following passages from the BIBLE. Pay close attention to the FACT that Jesus is NOT a loser! John 6:37-40 “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. (38) For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. (39) And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. (40) And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
John 18:9 “That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.”
Matthew 18:11 “For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.” (Interesting Note…) Try to look up Matthew 18:11 in the New International Version (NIV) or in the New World Translation (NWT). The NWT is the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ private version! Why is that verse GONE ???
Thank the Lord that this teaching is repeated in Luke… Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
I once WAS lost but NOW AM found… The reason WE can sing “Amazing Grace” is because the Lord Jesus Christ is OUR SAVIOUR. That is what He does... He saves people from sin! This is not some temporary thing. The GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE... Jesus was not and is not a loser! He kept all that came to him and LOST NONE of them, but the “son of perdition”. (Judas)
Was Judas a believer, or was he a devil? We would do well to believe the Bible!
What about Judas? People ask this all the time! They say, “He was a Christian and lost his salvation”.
We say he never had it... Jesus plainly called him a devil…(the son of perdition).
He was NOT a true believer... He was NOT saved... NOT born again! Many times people run to other books to find out what a word means… Most times if you compare Scripture with Scripture, and look at the context, you can get a good idea of what a word means in the Bible, even if you do not have a dictionary! Just in case you do not have a dictionary - take a look at this...
The Dictionary meaning for the word “PERDITION” would be… 1. In CHRISTIANITY, punishment in Hell: in some religions, the state of everlasting punishment in Hell that sinners endure after death. 2. In CHRISTIANITY, Hell: Hell itself as a location. 3. Complete destruction: complete destruction or ruin.
The Greek word for "PERDITION” is apoleia (ap-o’-li-a)... - This Greek word is translated as perdition, destruction, waste, damnable, to die, and to perish!
The Bible gives us an interesting verse in... Revelation 9:11 “And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.” This name, Apollyon, comes from the same root word as “perdition”… apoleia (pronounced ap-o’-li-a). You can see the similarity even in the spelling!
There are NO SIMILARITIES between the Son of God and the son of perdition.
If you are a child of God, you are going to Heaven! If you are not a child of God, then you are related to the son of perdition and headed for a devil’s Hell… You must “become” a child of God by believing and receiving Jesus Christ as your Saviour!
No one can do this for you! Will you RECEIVE Jesus or REJECT Him ??? John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
John 6:64-71 “But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. (65) And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. (66) From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. (67) Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? (68) Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. (69) And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. (70) Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? (71) He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.” Remember in the passage from John 6:64-71... Jesus told us that out of the 12 that He chose, ONE was a devil (Judas). I remind you that Judas never was a true believer from the start. The account of the actual KISS OF BETRAYAL is in John 18:1-6. Remember Jesus also called him the “son of perdition” in...
John 17:12 “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou
gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.”
Acts 1:16 “Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.”
John 13:18 “I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.” There are two passages of Scripture from Psalms that were fulfilled in the life and death of Judas. Psalms 41:9 “Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.” Also read Psalms 109:1-20... Of course, you will want to read the whole chapter! However, the first 20 verses describe a prophecy about our Lord Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot. Remember that there are several people in the Bible named Judas… We are talking about the traitor… a devil… the son of perdition… (Judas Iscariot). Luke 6:16 “And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.” Luke 22:3 “Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.”
(Satan cannot ENTER a true believer)… If so, give a reference? ________
Review the definitions of PERDITION, on the previous page. Judas is called the SON of perdition… but perdition is also a PLACE. It also describes the present condition and the future of those that are LOST.
Study these references connected to the word ~ Perdition… Acts 1:25 “That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.” 1st Timothy 6:9 “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.” Hebrews 10:39 “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” 2nd Peter 3:7 “But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” Revelation 17:8 “The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.”
PERDITON is the place where Judas ended up because HE WAS LOST… He did NOT lose his salvation! He NEVER had it... He NEVER WAS SAVED… He went to his own place! He was the betrayer of our Lord, a traitor, a pretender, a devil… His “call name” was the “son of perdition”… NO believer in the New Testament was called that. ALL un-believers will end up with Judas in the “Lake Of Fire”! Rev. 21:8
Remember ~ Jesus is NOT a loser... He will become your Saviour, when you receive Him - and you will become a “Born Again Child Of God”.
We want you to KNOW for sure that you are saved. If you need help with this decision, please let us know. If you are a real Christian, then you are saved for ALL ETERNITY.
