Design of the street : It is common to sell the site divided by making the private street through the large land, but this commercial method is not enough to use the advantages to be able to design the street. We should reconsider "the street" as a design object. I want you to design "the street" and the architecture(five SOHO type offices) by making the private street in the fictional site around Tokyo. This assignment demand not to revive engawa and return in old days by designing playground in the street but to design new communication, behavior, feelings, and community. | Concept |

This project is a critique for the standard idea of house composition and property ownership, and creates a group of design company offices that open to road and city via sharing the ROOF. Modern masterplan often divide land by road and privatized land, capital property such as car and house building owned by a family, draws the limit of the family’s life. the community was supposed to connect people by exchanging, such as borrowing and lending applicants between neighbors, like in the former society. in this case, the the roof also divides life just as how road functions. in this project, I removed one roof from five houses and create a void. The roof adopts an indipendent structure which allow some cantilever, for better efficiency, I convert part of the roof into frame that connect with the floor plate of second floor. The roof runs over across the street, blurs the border of private ownership and changes the relationship between the road, houses therefore human activity.

This is a Community Centre and Station Complex in Oimachi. A spiral ramp starts from the plaza goes to up floors, taking the people flow to the studios, workshops, restaurant, bookstores and the hall. the activity connected by circulation, providing a festival atmosphere to the ordinary commenting space. line, giving a daily or festival atmosphere to the commuting space.

It is private house locates on a hillside with forest behind, there is an open yard in front of the house that local children could gather and play here. Residential space and workshop is connected by wooden scissor truss, and the heating method is adopting traditional Russian heating system ”Petitka”, which is burning the firewood and slowly heating up the room, the various thermal condition provides for activity within one day’s time span.

Rødovre Municipal Library. The horizontal reading room has several courtyards where you can read outside. The full-height fixed windows are continuous, and there are open doors at various places, but they are not suitable for ventilation, so they have ventilation windows built into them. When you pull the string attached to the side, the twin windows slide and air can be taken in, and there is no fear that insects come in because the insect net is inside. When it goes out to the courtyard, it has a distinctive Jacobsen's garden design with plants growing from removed grid pavements.

| Concept |

This is a five-minute film about the recognition of the stairs around us. There are elements of architecture that are recognized as "rhythm" with repetition. The rhythm of the space created by the pillars and the rhythm of the elevation created by the windows. However, a single set of stair by itself, is already contain it own rhythm. Stairs often have nuance of time flow, as they connect lower place to higher place allowing people to move in elevation. looking at the stairs in the city from this viewpoint, we found the "affordances" of various stairs that are much more than the function of going up and down. In this film, we describe how various actors in the city spend their time on the stage of stairs.
