Flutes/Piccolos:
ALL piccolo and flute parts have equal importance in this work. "Flute I/Piccolo I" part and "Flute III/Piccolo III" are interchangeable. It has not been written for a principal flautist and dedicated piccolo player, but two players of equal ability who enjoy playing piccolo. There is a section in this work when "Flute I/Piccolo I" part has more or equal amount of piccolo playing than "Flute III/Piccolo III". Your principal flute player may prefer to play "Flute III/Piccolo III" whilst the "Flute I/Piccolo I" is played by your third flute player.
