My name is Daniele Troiani, I’m a twenty-two years old italian creative specialized in graphic design, born in Ascoli Piceno in 1989. My education has an artistic basement because all my studies always turned around art and visual communication. I attended the Statal Institute of Art O. Licini (graphid design) in my hometown. My youngest years were characterized by a strong passion for drawing that soon evolved in lots of forms of visual expression, from street art to mixed media. I always tried to find new communicative ways using strange materials and tools. Once I graduated from high school I moved in Rome and I have enrolled at the IED (European Institute of Design) in satisfying the hunger for visual communication. Here I spent three brilliant years between studying and sperimenting. I graduated in July 2011 with a grade of 100/100 cum laude. I’m a graphic designer since four years and I always use my job as a source for continuos research and as an implementation for my studies. University taught me how to be professional at work and at the same time working for clients taught me how to sell myself, how to make good presentations and how to face all the exams more easily. I define myself an eyes feeder cause I love to work in different fields, trying to express myself

using various techniques on all the possibles supports always maintaining a graphic design oriented approach during the projecting phase. Designer in the day, and VJ in the night. From studio to clubs I like so much to work for the musical field, creating graphics for events, videos or album covers and combining all these elements with “family feeling” in an unique visual flow. I saw my work as an operation of “dream-selling” and I love to visualize people’s dreams through my skills, creating worlds and narrating stories. In the following pages you’ll find a selection of thirteen projects done almost in the last 2 years. I tried to collect all the possible material and I hope that it’ll be visually satisfying for you. Emisfero group is a problem solving agency based in Ascoli Piceno (Italy). In April 2011 they asked me to make a total restyling of the logo and to re-create the corporate identity, website included. I decided to realize an evolutive logo based on a conceptual form inspired by the characteristics of the agency, its multiplicity of skills, its fast approach to resolve commits and its special relationship with clients. The color palette rotates around two graduations of grey pantone and a fast fluo sky-blue. Triangular die-cuts define all the shapes of the corporate identity giving them movement. The letter headed paper was projected to be closed up by folding the creasing lines. The website was realized and developed with the collaboration of Claudio Salatino (POME). Furthermore a series of icons was designed for classify all the services, dividing them in six competence areas.

Here’s a gallery of posters made for INDOOR, a monthly party in which I always perform as VJ. The simple nature of the logo (a keyhole) permits me to play with its shape working on creative combinations for reflect the mood of the party. The cool thing of doing graphics and play a vj set for the same party is that I’m always involved to think things “in motion”. I see this posters as an index that helps receivers to make the first step into the audiovisual performance. This is a selection of the best ones done from december 2010 to the present.

Limited edition invite for a private pool party organized in august by the ZUCKERWATTE staff. The aim of this work was to realize a cool invite that evades from the traditional image of standard pool parties like sunny days hot bikini, boobs and pinacolada. So I realized this new scenario influenced by the ZKR corp. colors, where the rope of an acid green life preserver goes inside the paper keeping the access bracelets next to an hangover, painted, inflatable, green crocodile.

Few posters done for a school project during the “Manifesto� class (third year at IED Rome). Coordinate by Raoul CIilento, these lessons were a four months full immersion in the world of poster design, doing exercises and viewing mosts of amazing works done by designers from the entire world. Building and breaking grids we learned how to make equilibrate compositions and how to communicate moving objects in space using a correct hierarchy and typographic selection.

This almost is one of my favorite projects that grew up with me in this years. WhiteRabbit was born as a monthly audiovisual party at the PAO club in San Benedetto del Tronto (italy) and then evolved in a seasonally audiovisual performance located in different clubs. I personally did all the WhiteRabbit visual stuff since the project was born, from the beginning of the concept to the web commercial spots. The illustrated bunny logo has the capability to change according to its application, maintaining however its shape well recognizable.

Uniontex is a fashion show-room born into an old mechanical workshop in San Benedetto Del Tronto (Italy). The brief asks to create a creative identity that should take inspiration form the anatomy of place and from its old history. After some researches I decided to use gears for characterize the entire corporate identity. In the mechanical field, gears are the key component that makes things work in the engine, as the work of the fashion representative is the key component between the fashion brand and the purchaser. Once the concept’s basements were built I started to look for old vintage gears and for a creative way to represent their workflow. The result was a combination between rotating gears in textile spaces tand a big library of graphic elements obtained by imprinting these objects on paper sheets with black ink.

This is a recent video installation done for TMItalia, an italian company, leader in the interior design field and specialized to the realization of handmade custom-built kitchens. In January 2011 they realized an “Inspired Lab� a new kind of place where clients can get involved in the company philosophy and can visualize their projects helped by architects and surrounded by an inspiring atmosphere. My mission was to create a 30 min video installation that talks about elements and materials and a new, indirectly, creative way to show their transformation and evolution. A mac mini is programmed for the automatic startup of the video and a projector displays the image on a custom 400 x 400 cm square screen.

Kontiki is one of the clubs in which I work as graphic designer and VJ. For the 2011/12 winter season the club was entirely restyled in its internals and communication. For promote this change I realized a new business card that matches the club’s new image, inspiring to its architecture and new colorful interiors. What comes out was a series of business cards in four different colors, handmade printed using a silkscreen technique with a special embossed plaster paint communally used in the fashion field. My aim in this work was to wrap a big visual and tactile experience in a small support.

HANGAR K04 was a weekly appointment with house music at the Kontiki club (SBT) . I’ve personally directed all the communication, giving to the club a military air force base look, and I also performed as a VJ during all the party season. I like to tell stories visually and I think that there’s no better way to communicate something using a tale or a collective imaginary. A background story gives you the capability to be more creative using lots of visual elements and play with them permits you to catch people’s interest more efficiently.

Rodrigo is an italian fashion brand. I work for them as a freelance video designer since 2 years. The last work made was a Tv spot and a Backstage of the shooting production. I love to communicate using every method, and details shows how everything comes out from me is graphic design oriented. Below you can find some frames extracted form the 20 sec tv spot and a series of intro titles made for the 3 minutes backstage. I really think that be able to make a graphic composition is not so different than make a good framing. Is just about researching armory through things and ability to visualize them.

This work was done for the final exam of the Corporate identity class at the IED Rome. The brief was to to realize the entire corporate identity, brand manual and the final product (bottle and pack) for Vàzquez, an imaginary producer of mexican distilled, specialized on the production of mezcal. I decided to associate the world of the game of poker to the entire communication. The logotype comes out from a research on mexican ancient calligraphy. All the other visual material is a revisitation of images from the poker symbolism viewed with “mexican eyes”. I represented the three different kinds of product (mezcal blanco, reposado and anejo) using the card figures “J”, “Q” and “K” in a crescent scale. My aim in this work was to create a “Vàzquez World” where the tradition and the quality of the product are emphasized by a new mexican way to represent things. For example, characters on the bottles have a traditional face painting inspired by the day of the dead makeup.

Adam (Alphabet Digital Art Magazine) is a project realized during the thesis period at the IED Rome, behind the coordination of Luigi Vernieri. For this collective project I realized the magazine logotype, a series of spreads and the cover. “The Aleph Issue” is the first issue of the magazine, the absolute beginning. It features 26 words, as many as the letters of the alphabet. The first letter is A, which follows a cultured red thread visually associated with words listed in alphabetical order. For the creation of the cover I get inspired by the idea of this “new birth” that totally embraces all the magazine’s contents. Working with vector graphic combined to 3d modeling and animation I finally obtained the effect of letters that push a skin-paper surface as if they wanna come to existence.

ZUCKER is a typeface initially projected for the ZUCKERWATTE logo in summer 2009. Later on I designed all the Uppercase letters for use it in posters headlines. Lowercases numbers and glyphs are currently in phase of production. The name derives from the logotype for which it was created and from its aspect. It’s an Headline font and it must be used with care. An abuse of Zucker can create serious “graphic decays”.
