Origins December 16 - 1984 Born and raised in Temuco - Chile. since a very young age I’ve shown interest in the variety of Arts. Always restless, getting involved in almost every extracurricular activity, it was the Acting what marks my Primary School years. In parallel always skilled, at the age of 8, I started to compete in the BMX National Racing Championship for 2 years, this experience took me years later to the Skateboarding world where I became to be Sponsored in my State and winning Contest in Chile also getting recognition in Germany. My parents, two passionate travelers, were always worried to give me the best opportunities to learn within the experience, took me to many countries all over the globe, not to vacation, but to know different realities and cultures, that’s why every year we visited a new country to learn and see as much as we could. In this same learning line, they encourage me to apply to an Intercultural Exchange Program with AFS (American Field Service) which it lead me at the age of 17 to Live a whole School year in Göppingen, Germany. Without knowing a bit of German and all by myself. It was there where I have found my calling into Design. Back in Chile 2004, I started my Academic education in Design School of the Biobío University, where after four years I finished the Academic period with some recognitions in CAD, this took me to attain a Professional Internship in a National Awarded Argentina Design Studio for 200 hours. In mid-2008 I began my Degree Project, focused in design a Rear Rack for Pickup utility trucks in order to improve the visibility of the road assistance vehicles, making the zone safer for the user. I failed with this project mostly for my immaturity as a Designer and the magnitude in terms of money of the project. After a fast hard reset of my goals I started with a fresh project focused in develop a Smart Emergency Signals for crowded places, with this project I pass with a score of 99 of 100 points. After that I was hired by Teknip a South American Leader in the developing of Technology and Equipment’s for Wood Industries, where I’m actually Head of Innovation, having to design the equipment and also in charge of the Corporate image, being behind of all kind of graphic supports. 4

I spend one month in the company as Intern, after this time I stayed there for three more months as Full-Time Employee. My work there was to collaborate with the Design Team, developing different type of Displays and dispensers to Retail Stores, also modeling with 3d softwares real objects to been used in Catalog and Packaging.

01.1 SITTINGBULL | 2006 Ride-On Style toy, made completely out of wood, inspired in fuse two classic kids toys, the bouncing ball and a Ride-On. The challenge on this object, was to achieve that a wooden part gave the toy the ability to bounce, this was obtained from a three laminated parts, given the toy his main ability to Bounce, giving the kid the feeling as he is taming the bull. 10

01.2 LCA CHAIR | 2006 The LCA (Light, Camera, Action!) Chair project develop together with MATIAS ABURTO for the class Prototype 1 in 3°year The task was to design a dry wood coupling and after deribate into a Chair. LCA Chair is made out of TEPA & RAULI wood, the mayor aspect of the chair is that it was conceived with the need to be easy to manufacture by any local Wood Craftsman, made only from 10 pieces, providing also a good RTA product for packaging and distribute. 12

Working with the 8th Fire Department from Concepción, I detected two flaws in a normal procedure to prepare a tripod out of a rope and 3 steel jack posts, to assist the entry into a fire situation or rescuing people using this element 1. the Fireman has take off his gloves to elaborate the tripod. 2. The knod to generate this tripod was only know by few crew members, so it was often to Frontal wait until this member arrived to the site.

USE SITUATIONS

My solution was a cast aluminium alloy Piece, thats provide an easy assembly, no bare hand handling needed, inner cavity to assist the lift of a person/tools, fast and secure movement in the emergency site. With an Average Weight of 6Kg and a verified resistance to hold 200Kg. 14

02.1 SLOW COMBUSTION STOVE | 2006 Thinked into the average rural families from the southern part of Chile, answered to a need to encounter the actual state of home Slow Combustion heaters and old fashioned Combustion Stoves. This concept reflects my experience as user of old fashiones combustion stoves and professional internships on a heater manufacturer company’s. With the incorporation of gas stoves the old combustion stoves were obsolete, bringing the appearing of the slow combustion heaters, these heaters can be easily used to warm already cooked meals or some hot beverage, giving the user the chance to optimize his energy consumption. My concept incorporates • Two air convection areas, providing faster heat spread into the room. • Copper with stainless steel lining Surface for maximum heat conduction. • A fully removable ashes receptacle. • A Dryer area to keep stock even in the hardest chilean winter. 18

In 2006 the ConceStyle Skateboarding Organization reached me to help in the design and management. At the start of the project my rol was just to suggest the posible obstacles and session lines of the project. The time passed and the construction began, some weeks before that iv’e recibed the Final Plans to check the skateability of the park, having found lots of mistakes (Highlighted in red on the image below), we rush to translate all the drawings into a 3d version and redrawn the plans with modifications and add some obstacles to improve the park.

Skateramp specially designed to fulfill the needs of the Temuco Skateboarding Organization, this needs were: • Be Transportable in a 3/4 Ton Truck, cause they didn’t had a spot to practice normaly. • the ability to rearrange them into different configurations to make a Line session park. • Low budget, it has to be made with only 900 USD. The result was this 3 modular obstacle Ramp, built with Tubular Steel and covered with Marine Grade Plywood.

03.3 RAUM BAGS | 2014 Raum Bags is a brand thats thats born after some conversation with a good friend Rodrigo Lara about the insecurities in chilean streets and public transportation of the big cities. He worked in this subject for his Degree Project so he had al ready some work done, with that has a starting point and to achive good results we needed a fashion designer, so we called the best we knew and Natalia Díaz joined the team. We restarted the project and redirectioned to a different aproach more elegant day-to-day, in order to financiate the project we applied to a Protype founding program from the State, the project was well recived by the judge board and we get our Capital to buy machines and Materials. 26

03.4 ALTOBAR | 2008 AltoBar was a VIP zone for the most important Discoteque at the moment in Temuco (ViejoFaro), The job was to design a Bar incorporating the image of the whole club merging the corporate image of the sponsor Alto del Carmen. The final product was this Glowing Bar, built from bended steel structure covered in PVC with a Acrylic surface, all of this iluminated from the inside. The project also considered the Bar Rack behind also Built by my self in thermoformed Acrylic with lights in the inside.

Unable to left behind the situation lived on February 27 of 2010, when a 8.8 earthquake interrupt our night. Being in the Zero Zone Talcahuano a few meters from the shore, given me a totally new perspective of my security and awareness in how normally we don’t really know how to react or where to go in this situations. Having all this in mind I started to research to focus my Thesis Project to this area, finding that there was a lot to do, I started to develop a product working with different professionals from other areas to improve my vision and giving my design a real ground to work. Therefore, after a Year of work and with the support from of two computer engineer, a speech therapist and a Rescuing Expert I develop this object. +In January of 2008, I worked as Professional Intern, in EstudioPenta an Awarded Design Studio from Buenos Aires - Argentina. They are well known, for his POP graphics works for brands like Raid, Nokia P&G, SC Johnson and Cadbury, to name few. After Spending the 200hrs. needed to approve the Internship, they invited my to work for some more time before i had to return to Chile. At the end, I’ve worked for nearly 3 months, time where it was extremely rewarding in terms of working for real clients and the responsibilities and pressure of the transcendence of your work as part of a Design Team. 05.3 RSD EXTENSION | 2008 In the Argentina the small stores is a huge problem for retailers who haves to make his products pop into the eyes of the clients, having these two conditions in mind, we decided to design a display thats uses an existing display from the same brand, to fix the new display for a new line of product. Made of and bended Metal Sheet an Acrylic sides, the display was simple to facturate and easy to apply. 38

During these 4 years as Head of Innovation in Teknip I’ve been in charge of developing machines for clients like Masisa, CMPC, JCE and F.Andes. In addition, I am also in charge of the entire corporate image, related in International Fairs and Publications in Magazines. Getting a huge experience feedback from work and learn from a Multi-disciplinary team and a variety of machines, also travel to other countries like Brazil and Germany.

06.2 CHIPPER CANTER | 2014

06.1 LOG TRIMMER | 2014 Machine designed to cut a Log in two pieces of the same size, this machine have a mobil alignment device to ensure the defined size. Built to trimm Logs with a maximum diameter of 450mm. Overall Dimension: 7 x 5 x 3 meters. 42

Designed process 50-80 m/min the Canter 600 (CC), it was the first CC designed and builded by Teknip as part of the new SmartSawing Line, developed together with their brasilian partner Mendes, for this project I spend 2 weeks in the Mendes HQ in Curitibanos Brasil, working and sharing experience with the Engineenring Team. 06.3 HECTEK | 2013 Poli-functional Compact Stacker HecTek, This Stacker is one of my first fully self-guided project in the company, the first prototype was build and tested in the client plant, after some months of operation we changed the design and now we are building the V2.0 of the machine. Teknip has al ready sold 7 this machines. The function of this equipment is to stack sub-generated packs of wood mouldings. Designed totally in modular parts, it can be configured to work with products length from 1 meter to 6 meters or more. This machine generate Packs of 1.1 x 1.1 meters. Overall Dimensions (only stacker 4 bodys) 3 x 2 x 6 meters 44

06.4 OPTI-TRIM | 2015 The Optimized lumber trimmer is designed to operate with the information obtained from the scanners mounted before the machine, only with one variable fence and one mobil saw the Trimmer can make more than 18 sizes in a max speed of 90 pieces/minute.
