San Diego Key Club have been collecting t-shirts for the past month to make dog toys, which we made after school on June 5th. Key Club gathered in the school library to tear up t-shirts to braid them into lovely dog toys! A great crowd came from our club, including two members from SDSCPA. The toys we made will be donated to the Baja Dog Rescue, a no-kill rescue shelter in San Diego. When helping out, Kristal Hernandez, a member from San Diego Key Club, said, “I really enjoyed making the dog toys and it was fun being able to give back to the community in a way”. Star Wars Bike Rodeo| Montgomery In May, Montgomery Key Club attended The Empire Bikes Back!, a community bike safety workshop which took place at Morse High School and is hosted by Southeastern Kiwanis, Urban Collaborative Project, San Diego Bike Coalition, and Circulate San Diego. This event was to encourage and teach kids (and teens), who attended, about bike safety and rules of the road because there has been many crashes in Southeastern San Diego. We were able to test out the drills ourselves and help the kids pick out the right-sized helmet, which they got to keep. It was a blast helping out with the event and seeing the kids enjoying the drills. Submitted by: Christina Liang
