LETTER FROM YOUR LTG hey lions! Hope you’re all having a blast and excited for the last month of 2019! It’s crazy how this term has gone by so fast, but it’s time we set our eyes on the upcoming term. With Conclave coming up on the 14th, I can not wait to see who will become the Division’s future leader and am sure that no matter who it is, they will take the division to new heights. BUT THIS DOESN'T MEAN THE TERM IS OVER YET! We still have around 3 months left to leave our mark so DO NOT stop serving yet! With December being the month of giving its more important than ever to do whatever you can for your community as a club. It’s so incredibly important that every family has food on their plates and gifts for their kids in this upcoming holiday season so do whatever you can to help our local families. It's also important to take advantage of this holiday break and to take a step back whenever you get the chance and to mentally and physically relax. The school year is halfway done so that means we still have half a year to go! Never stop serving and really start thinking of the future so we’re prepared as a division moving forward! Have an amazing winter break lions! roaring with service, ali orouji lieutenant-governer

LETTER FROM YOUR DNE hey lions! Can you guys believe it's already December! Time has passed by so quickly! I hope that everyone has had a successful semester so far in school. First semester is almost over, so keep working hard. You're almost there! It's amazing to see what everyone has accomplished recently, and I'm so glad to see that many people went to Fall Rally. Although I unfortunately didn't get to go to Fall Rally, I heard about the amazing time everyone had there riding the roller coasters, connecting with new friends, and supporting the Pediatric Trauma Program! I hope everyone keeps up their dedication to volunteer in December and remembers to give back in the holiday spirit! Enjoy this issue! audrey xia division news editor

RECAP: TESORO

GLEN YERMO BOO FESTIVAL

RECAP: TESORO

GLEN YERMO BOO FESTIVAL On October 25th, 2019 our Key Club went to our third annual Glen Yermo Boo Festival at Glen Yermo elementary school with shifts from 4:00-6:30pm and 6:30-8:00p. The initial shift helped to set up various crafts, decorations, prize booths, games, food, and the haunted house. We had lots of fun working together to make everything look incredible for the 6:00pm opening despite the sweltering 90° weather. Some kids of the PTA moms who were also volunteering were also at our booths playing with some of the toys while we set up -- which were adorable! The first shift was generally a success and everything was in place and ready for opening. During the second shift, the sun was setting and temperatures fell as we began working at the prize station and the three of us were all put to work as we had long lines of parents and children anxiously waiting to exchange their tickets for prizes. The joy that those prizes brought to the kids’ faces was priceless and we are looking forward to returning next year.

RECAP: TESORO

BIKE MS: BAY TO BAY

On Saturday, October 19th, 2019, our volunteers went to Dana Point to act as Route Marshals for the Bike MS: Bay to Bay volunteering event. At this event 1,500 cyclists rode from Irvine to San Diego in order to raise funds and awareness for those who face the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis every day. As Route Marshalls, our volunteers directly supported participants by helping guide them and cheer them on while on their route. Some of the jobs that they participated in were setting up rest stops (tent, tables, snacks/drinks), helping serve and replenish lunch, snacks, and drinks, and cheering on participants. Events like these are always refreshing as volunteers get to see their direct impact on the well-being of the runners so that they almost work together, through motivation and hard work, to get to the finish line of the course and to achieve the goal of increased awareness and funds.

FUTURE EVENTS!

ROSE FLOAT PARADE

Now that Fall Rally is over it's time to look at what's coming up next: ROSE FLOAT DECORATION! Rose Float decoration is a very large event for Region 3 Key Club where we get the chance to go and help decorate the floats for the annual Rose Float! It's a once in a life time opportunity and I highly encourage for you guys to attend! As mentioned before, you will be able to meet with Key Clubbers all over Region 3 Key Club and make many new friends and connections. In the past, everyone has been able to bond with members from their own and outside of their division, as well as play a direct part in the amazing creation of the Rose Float Parade! Be sure to check with your club presidents to see if there are any spots left as it is on a first come first serve basis and a very popular event!

FUTURE EVENT!

CONCLAVE

Conclave is an annual event for every Key Club division where all clubs from a division gather for the purpose of electing the Lieutenant Governor for the future term. Our conclave is also joint with the rest of Region 3, which means that they will also be electing their LTGs for the upcoming term. All are welcome to attend to see the contentious election process and witness who your future LTGs for the next term will be! Attendance is mandatory for all clubs, with each club getting 2 possible delegates who will be allowed to vote. As many members per club are allowed to attend the event! If you want to be a delegate, ask your club president. THE DECEMBER DIVISION COUNCIL MEETING WILL ALSO BE TAKING PLACE AFTER CONCLAVE! DATE: SAT., DEC. 14TH TIME: 9 AM - 1 PM LOCATION: VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL'S AUDITORIUM

FALL RALLY RECAP

FALL RALLY RECAP

Fall Rally. One of the biggest events of the year. Key Clubbers from all around California united at Six Flags Magic Mountain, showing their spirit for their division. By attending Fall Rally, Division 4 South was able to raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program while having a fun time at Six Flags!

D04S had an amazing time at Fall Rally this year, riding the various roller coaster, eating well, and making new friends. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience.

FALL RALLY RECAP

FALL RALLY RECAP Fall Rally was a high spirited and eye opening experience, especially for members who went for the first time. From the very start of the day, Key Clubbers from different schools got the opportunity to mingle and loudly practice their division cheers on the bus ride to Six Flags. Upon arriving there, members were greeted with colorful costumes and embellished spirit sticks from Key Clubbers of all different divisions. The rally sessions and random spirit battles throughout the day were a great way for members to understand how large Key Club is as an organization. Additionally, it presented wonderful opportunities to make fast friends. At the end of the day, which was filled with many high thrill rides and pricey snacks, just about every Key Clubber was taking pictures with different clubs and sharing them online. Again, Fall Rally was a special opportunity for members to get closer with their own club, and to understand the larger scope of what Key Club is and what it does for the community. -Hayley Chung-heng

FALL RALLY RECAP I had such a great time at Fall Rally, which is an experience shared by basically everybody. Everyone was super hyped and excited to be there; we were all ready to ride all the Six Flag rides, as well as meet members from all across the division. Of course, all the lines were super long, even just to get into the park. Though it may sound like a detriment, for some reason, the lines were even better than the rides. It sounds clichĂŠ, but we truly got to bond and connect with each other more when we were in line. The actual rally was kind of anti-climactic for our division due to our relatively smaller size, but it was fun to watch the bigger divisions compete with their amazing cheers. Our group was really food oriented and we alternated between food and rides. Right before we were supposed to leave, we bought 3 funnel cakes and finished them in 10 minutes. That was interesting... - Cassidy Lo

FALL RALLY RECAP

This was my last but favorite fall rally. The familiar feel of waking up early to see my spirited division brought a smile to my face. Everyone was proudly wearing the shirts I designed. As we got to Six Flags, you could see the overwhelming swarms of Key Clubbers with intricately decorated spirit sticks. After we entered the park, we headed over to our rally session where the rest of the biggest region gathered. Luckily, we were able to buy our own LTG during the auction! Roaming around the park, we flaunted our five spirit sticks which lit up in the nighttime. Our night ended with scarfing down huge turkey legs and sugary funnel cakes. As I was leaving Six Flags, I looked back and a couple of tears fell from my eyes. In that moment, I had realized that my key club experience was coming to an end. With that being said, I thank you for all of the wonderful friends that made this fall rally so memorable.

FALL RALLY RECAP

Fall Rally South 2019 was one of the most exciting days of the year. From the spirit battles to the rides to the friendships to the funnel cakes, it was such an unforgettable experience. The excitement of the rally session tied the whole experience together and really made Fall Rally a blast. Shouting our division's cheers as one roarin’ family while also getting to hear all the awesome cheers the other divisions had prepared makes the experience all the more unique. Getting to scream and hug all my fellow Key-uties as we went on the terrifying yet excited rides allowed us to bond even more. Being division spirit coordinator this year made the event all the more special because I got to help write the cheers and make a lot of super cute spirit gear. Connecting to people across the entire district simply through Key Club cheers or telling them their spirit gear was cute creates a real sense of community that makes Key Club so special. - Joanne Sarsam
