MyCiTi bus company director shot dead ISOLABANTU A director and board member of a MyCiTi bus Vehicle Operating Company – Kidrogen – was shot dead at the MyCiTi bus depot on Wednesday, 30 November 2017. George Phuravhathu was shot in the upper body multiple times and died on the scene from the fatal gunshot wounds. Phuravhathu had just stepped out of the company’s annual general meeting and was sitting in a Toyota Fortuner talking to a fellow board member, who was also shot multiple times in the upper body. Confirming the incident, Table View police spokesperson,

Captain Adriana Chandler, said that Phuravhathu had died on the scene from the multiple gunshot wounds. “He died at 17:30,” said Chandler. The MyCiTi bus depot at Stables near Kwa 5 is fully equipped with CCTV cameras and even though footage of Phuravhathu and his associate’s shooting was handed over to the police to aid their investigation, Chandler said that the suspect cannot be identified from the CCTV footage. The motive of the shooting, she said is unknown and still being investigated. Phuravhathu was among the first taxi bosses involved in the negotiations with the City of
