Cultural Barter School semester 5 / community center / bagan lalang

Bagan Lalang were once a knitted but dispersed rural neighborhood before the touristic value comes in. However, though tourists did boost the local economy but the cultural and social aspect of this place are draining drastically. It is vital at this point for the locals to regain their social consciousness and rebuild their own identity of this place. From several studies of this place, it is vital to reestablish a social node point of this place that would knit people together again. Therefore, a cultural barter remain as a solution to be introduced in order to rebuild the identity of Bagan Lalang, for both visitors and locals.

Traditional crafts are declining due to the fact that overpower of manufacturing production and lack of innovation in its traditional product. The solution is to introduce design culture into the production of traditional crafts, this infusion of modern culture intended to innovate all aspect of a crafts from sources of materials to usage of a product. Design facilities such as Fabrication Laboratory are also introduced as a catalyst to innovate the traditional crafts to fulfill modern needs and requirements. Mengkuang products are selected as a main crafts due to its ambiguity character. However, mengkuang products are not durable but it is sustainable and down to earth. Animal and mankind shared the same ground nor space on earth as a home to sustain the existence of their very own species. But for centuries of mankind perpetual strive to creates and reinvent their own human centric utopias that has neglected the coexistence of our fellow ally, the animals on earth. In the process of man-making their utopia to provocate their very own mythology of growth and progress, where it creates various issues like domination of spaces which it directly put some of our ally into the perks of extinction. We believe that mankind has the capacity to solve the population pandemic by claiming more lands and

Section 6 House

seshan design / architecture / residential

Section 6 House is an ambitious residential projects that target to complete a bungalow in a year from design to construction. Client is a big fans of prominent Sri Lankan Architect Geoffrey Bawa. Client are interested to have a very tropical and 50s British colonial architecture. While client would like to remain their original cabinets and furnitures (mostly antics), most of the budget goes into the building. Furthermore, Ramesh has an idea of building a steel construction while the outlook of the building are typically conventional. The idea is to look for alternatives that encourage

usage of skilled workers and a drastically shorter timeline for construction. In this project, I am part of the drafting team for construction drawings. Throughout the process, I have built up a significant knowledge of drawing conventions and construction knowledge.

Stage involvement: submission drawings, costing drawings and construction drawings 46

Architecture is a representation of layered appropriate ideas carefully compose in a form of point, line, planes and spaces. Just like a plate of fried rice, with considering of the quality, proportions, mass of ingredients, properly fried together in a appropriate time and temperature. Voila! a plate of aromatic fried rice is in front of you. Lack of some flavors? Try adding some extra ingredients you or your customer likes such as Tom-yam. or just add more organic vegetables just to be healthy.
