Your donation can make a real difference

ay I wish you a very warm welcome to this issue of M Your Hospice Matters. It takes a community to make a Hospice and our work would just not be possible without you. We’d really like to be able to keep in touch with you and continue to send you this newsletter. Due to new regulations coming into force soon, we need to ask you to confirm you’re still happy to receive communications from us, and how you’d like to receive them going forward. If you could take a moment to complete the form on the next page in order to confirm you’d like to keep in touch with us it would mean such a lot to us. Please do call the Fundraising Team on 01604 973340 if you have any questions about this. We hope to see lots of you at our fourth annual Colour Run this month at Overstone Park. It really is the most colourful and vibrant fundraising event of the year and a great opportunity to #getmessy4cynthia while raising money for our wonderful Hospice. You’ll also see from this issue that Cycle4Cynthia rides back into your diaries for its 15th year on Sunday 23rd September. The event this year is based at the beautiful Althorp Estate and as usual you will have three different routes to choose from – five miles, 25 miles and 50 miles so there’s plenty of options to choose from whether you’re new to two wheels or very much at home in the saddle. The themes of the ride this year are ‘fun fitness and family’ which perfectly sums up what’s great about taking part in our fundraising events! I hope you enjoy reading this issue of Your Hospice Matters, we’d love to hear your feedback so please do drop the Fundraising Team an email on fundraising@cynthiaspencer.co.uk if you have any comments. Thank you again for your continuing support. Joanne Merritt

m o r f s w e N e h t d n u o r a Hospice Successful Franklins £50 Challenge Launched for 2019

O

wing to the huge success of the inaugural Franklins £50 Challenge this year, the 2019 corporate fundraising challenge has launched and kicks off in January 2019. Sponsored by Franklins Solicitors LLP, the 2018 challenge pitted local businesses against each other to use their fundraising savvy and business acumen to raise the most money for local charities from an initial £50 investment. Between the teams supporting Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Willen Hospice, the 2018 challenge raised a whopping £48,969.61. The 2019 challenge will also incorporate teams supporting MacIntyre Charity.

Fundraising Manager, John Helm said: “Being part of the first Franklins £50 Challenge has been fantastic for our charity as not only has it raised an amazing sum which would pay for one in-patient’s care for an entire month, but it’s also shone a light on the amazing energy and

passion for fundraising that exists within our local business community. We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Franklins Solicitors for sponsoring the challenge and all the teams that took part to raise money for Cynthia Spencer Hospice”

Fancy taking on the challenge in your business? Register online now www.cynthiaspencer.org.uk/ event/franklins50, contact John on 01604 973342 or email john@cynthiaspencer.co.uk

year old grandfather, Chris Dyson has taken on an extreme running challenge to show his gratitude to the Hospice for the care given to his friend Andrew. “He was treated with dignity and respect and helped to remain pain free for the last few days of his life. The care Andrew and his family received was truly amazing” said Chris. To raise money, Chris will be running a half marathon every month for the rest of the year. If you can help Chris raise as much money as possible in his mammoth fundraising challenge, his online giving page is www.justgiving.com/ fundraising/chris-dyson67

Fundraising from our Lottery tops £250,000

I

t was smiles all round at the Hospice when it was revealed recently that our amazing lottery players have helped raise over £250,000 since our lottery started in 2014. Over 7,000 of you play in the draw each week which is making a massive difference to patients and families living with life limiting illness across the county. Our lottery is one of the easiest ways to support the Hospice and it only costs £1 per play each week.

Plus, you have the chance of winning one of 136 guaranteed prizes ranging from £10 to £1,000 and a rollover jackpot, which if not won increases by £250 up to a maximum of £10,000. Over the past 4 years the lottery has sent out over 2,900 prize cheques on behalf of Cynthia Spencer Hospice equating to over £50,000 in prize money. That includes 1 rollover jackpot winner and 18 winners of the £1,000 weekly top prize. Hospice Fundraising Manager, John Helm said: “We’d like to thank everyone who has ever played Your Hospice Lottery in support of Cynthia Spencer Hospice. This fantastic sum represents a quarter of what Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity has spent on supporting our Hospice care teams in the last year. So, thank you all for the wonderful difference you have made to Hospice care in South Northamptonshire.”

If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning the jackpot enter here www.cynthiaspencer.org.uk/get-involved/lottery/ or call 0800 285 1390.
