This Trip of a Lifetime, like all Beekman adventures, is meant to help a small group of travelers explore this incredible part of the world together. Traveling as a group offers the opportunity to experience unique activities without the planning and arranging that goes into traveling independently. You’ll be able to enjoy and explore the many diverse attractions that Iceland has to offer. You will learn about Iceland’s history, swim in a thermal lagoon, go whale watching and take a glacier Jeep safari.


your adventure begins DAY 1 - SEPTEMBER 30, 2019 Begin your adventure on your flight to Reykjavik.

DAY 2 - OCTOBER 1, 2019 WELCOME TO ICELAND After the arrival formalities, you will be escorted to Viking World, a museum showcasing the history and culture of the North Atlantic Vikings. Enjoy a hearty welcome breakfast inspired by old Nordic traditions followed by a guided tour of the facility. Includes a traditional shot of “Black Death� with a bite of fermented shark! Iceland’s Geothermal Marvels DAY 3 - OCTOBER 2, 2019

Geysers and Greenhouses After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a full-day Golden Circle tour, including Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Strokkur Geyser, one of the most active in the area, spouting up to 98 feet in the air every 5 to 7 minutes; and Gullfoss - the Golden Waterfall. You’ll stop for a special group lunch and afternoon at Friðheimar Farm. Lunch features products from Friðheimar and neighboring farms. After lunch, tour the greenhouses to learn how this eco-friendly farm grows vegetables. You will also visit the stables and watch a horse show featuring the unique Icelandic horse. Finally, you will plant a birch tree to help re-forest Iceland. At the end of the day you will return to the hotel in Reykjavik for dinner on your own.

The Rural Life DAY 4 – OCTOBER 3, 2019 FARM LIFE & HOT SPRINGS

H

ead out of the city today to meet local farmers and learn about life on the land in Iceland.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant known for locally-grown organic fruits, vegetables and beef. Spend some time in the afternoon soaking in the Secret Lagoon, a natural hot spring surrounded by geothermal hot spots and small geysers. Stay overnight at a country lodge hotel overlooking one of Iceland’s finest salmon rivers, the East Rangá River. Explore the rugged environment of South Iceland or enjoy gourmet dining in a secluded paradise of untouched nature. Should the Northern Lights become active, you can receive a wake-up call and warm blankets to wrap up in as you recline on lounge chairs to watch the colorful nighttime display.

DAY 5 – OCTOBER 4, 2019 GLACIER Jeep Safari and Hiking in Thorsmork Travel by powerful, Icelandic super-jeep. These 4x4 vehicles are equipped for off-road to cross rivers, navigate rough terrain and drive over glaciers. Visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall, driving over black volcanic sand that stretches as far as the eye can see. Stop for a group barbecue buffet at a Volcano Hut.

THOR’S VALLEY After lunch, spend as much time as you like hiking the trails in Thorsmork, or Thor’s Valley. This area is cut through by the Krossa River and surrounded by glaciers. Temperatures can be warmer and vegetation includes ferns, mosses, birch and small shrubs. Enjoy a group dinner back at your hotel and another opportunity to view the Northern Lights should they become active.

LAND OF FIRE & ICE DAY 6 – OCTOBER 5, 2019 Glaciers and Volcanoes Start your day with an exhilarating snowmobile ride on top of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, an icecap covering one of Iceland’s largest volcanoes, Katla. Enjoy a group lunch at Hotel Skogar, a fine-dining experience within sight of the dramatic Skogafoss waterfall, which you will visit after lunch.

Next, we’ll visit the visitor’s center at Eyjafjallajokull, the volcano that erupted in 2010. This fascinating, family-run exhibit gives a glimpse into the lives of generations of farmers who lived in the volcano’s shadow and how the eruption impacted lives in the community. Return to Reykjavik and check in to your hotel in the city center. Dinner tonight is a lobster feast at a local restaurant!

PAMPER YOURSELF DAY 7 - OCTOBER 6, 2019

Whale WATCHING & the Blue Lagoon Embark on an exciting whale watching excursion on a private boat. Experienced guides on board will share their wealth of knowledge on the whales, as well as pass on some interesting facts and old sea stories about encounters with these magnificent creatures. The whales around these parts are not shy, often surfacing quite close to the boat. In the afternoon, you may choose to head to the world famous Blue Lagoon for lunch on your own, then a spa-like experience! This relaxing wellness experience of soothing waters enriched with silica and minerals are beneficial for the mind and body. The Blue Lagoon features: • Deep turquoise - colored water • Sauna, steam rooms, locker rooms and showers • Silica pots for “on own” facials • Swim-up bar Or you can choose to spend the afternoon shopping in Reykjavik for last-minute gifts such as Scandinavian design, ceramics, hand-knit sweaters, woolen blankets, functional and stylish cold-weather wear, and more. Tonight, enjoy a festive farewell dinner at an eclectic restaurant located in the Reykjavik city center.
