The Product Treating daily with targeted mobilization and using a wearable tracker for monitoring, it acts as an intermediate step to NHS practices. This provides sufferers with a desirable alternative to surgery. In response to the conditionâ€™s significant impact on the suffererâ€™s lifestyle, a separate unit provides fast acting symptom relief through Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation and Cryotherapy.

1 / Wearable Tracker Designed to monitor user activities in an attempt to improve behavioural awareness. It is designed to learn individual symptomatic tasks and notify users when repeated, in an attempt to avoid re-occurrence.
Controls are located on the Symptom Relief Unit and control all elements of treatment.
2 / Symptom Relief Unit Helps reduce effects and gives the user management strategies. This can be used at home or work and contains the controls and interface for the treatment unit.
3 / Treatment Unit Splits 60 minutes of mobilization into manageable slots throughout the working day; loosening soft tissue in the hand and reducing Synovial fluid build-up.
Hand is located on the fabric lining to receive mobilization treatment.
Dock During the morning users can dock the symptom relief unit into the treatment unit. This triggers data from the wearable tracker to plan a daily custom treatment schedule; which is displayed on the screen.
Work Users can go about their daily work life unrestricted. The treatment unit rests neatly by the side of their keyboard.
Treatment Users are prompted at set intervals throughout the day to take small blocks of mobilization treatment. Users effortlessly rest their hand on the treatment unit and can continue work simultaneously.
Take Home At the end of the work day, users un-dock the symptom relief unit from the treatment unit, and bring it home in their bag.
Symptom Relief Users can utilise the symptom relief unit conveniently as required, such as before or after sleep and during leisure periods.

02. Changing Our Throw Away Culture A 9 day long project set by DCA with the brief: create a product that lasts with the goal to avoid landfill. Changes how we view our wasteful ‘throw away’ culture by advising purchase decisions. Manufacturers have little incentive to change their current packaging designs.

The Product Changes how we view our wasteful â€˜throw awayâ€™ culture by advising purchase decisions. Scans and rates potential purchases through a display, combining environmental database results and gsr sensors readings of userâ€™s emotions. The problem lies within the people, not just the products.
Mobile App Used either during shopping to find less wasteful, cheaper alternatives and at home to find how to do better and improve score.
Slide Open to Scan The device can slide open by pulling both halves. This allows easier portability and uncovers the accept button and environmental level display, which avoids accidental button presses.

Shop During a shopping trip, users bring beco with them. This could be for groceries, clothes or technology.
Locate Whilst the user is still considering which items to select, users remove device from storage, such as in their pockets or hand bag.
Expand To activate scan mode, device must be extended by pulling outwards. This reveals the environmental level and accept button, previously hidden to avoid accidental activation.
Scan User scans the bar code of items, beco then looks in a database for the wastefulness score. The device studies users emotions towards the purchase using gsr sensors to assess if itâ€™s a want (impulse) or need, and uses this as a score multiplier.
Receive Result The user receives the result, shown on the top screen as a reduction in an overall score of 100. Underneath this shows if an impulse multiplier has been added. The user can press the accept button if they wish to purchase, or close the device to cancel. A mobile app can be used to establish less wasteful alternatives on the go or at home.
Recycle At home, users can use the mobile app to see more eco-friendly, less wasteful alternatives. Once the user is ready to recycle an item such as packaging, they scan the bar code again to receive additional points for good actions.

The Product A floor cleaning assistant which aids dirt visualisation through projections, and encourages community engagement and team work through peer help. This makes an impactful difference to elderly users. Switch toggles functions, allowing visually impaired to feel current mode; further aided with textures. Status updates notify how many days until next scheduled cleaning visit; both outgoing and incoming.
1 / Detector & Charger Checks floor cleanliness each night using two sensors and builds a digital cleanliness map for the remote. Can also be used for manually checking cleanliness after cleaning. The device features a daytime charging base. 2 / Remote Projector Projects the cleanliness map onto the floor and manually controls the location of the detector for spillage and ondemand checks. 3 / Hub A table based charger for the remote with two screens for a floor cleanliness scale and a status for the rotation service.
Two powered wheels and a rotating wheel move detector.
An acoustic and visual sensor detect dirt, whilst a moisture sensor monitors spills kicked up from a rotating brush.
Navigates using a 360Â° camera and triangulation algorithms.

It plots a digital map of the floor cleanliness, as well as looking for areas of significant dirt and potential spillages.
Once the detector has finished, the remote hub cleanliness screen (a) updates over WiFi, showing the current floor cleanliness level. The rotation screen (b) updates with the days until Araceli next visit.
Detection Each night, the detector leaves the charging base to navigate around Araceliâ€™s home.
Visit When the regular arranged day and time arrives, Frank visits Araceli at her house. They greet each other with happiness.
Check After finishing the room, Frank can ensure all areas have been covered. Insufficiently cleaned areas still show a projection.
Clean Working together, Araceli and Frank clean the floor. Communicating as they clean, Araceli vacuums the floor whilst Frank uses the projection remote. This uses the most recent digital map. This tells them where they have cleaned, where needs to be cleaned, as well as areas of most dirt through varying intensities and colours of projection.
Relax Araceli and Frankâ€™s hard work has paid off. They can now enjoy a relaxing break before parting. They both look forward to this arrangement on a weekly basis.

Brand identity is key to Red Bullâ€™s market success, so itâ€™s important that this product fits in with their existing identity. Red Bull is known for its sponsorships for a huge range of extreme sports, and shapes from these extreme sports can be used to express a physical brand representation.
Adrenaline Associated with high speed, adrenaline is the common place at Red Bull. It shows fire behind success and is the fuel for the extreme and fearless.
Confidence Brashly unapologetic and bold, traits of confidence appear through defined, long profiles often which are repeated.
Power An amalgamation of adrenaline fuelled confidence, power is represented by technical aspects, such as bold sculpting & strong transitioning surfaces.
Strong sculpting indicates technical prowess, whilst tapering profiles show speed and optimisation. Repeated curves show a flare of confidence with composure.
The product represents confidence, adrenaline and extreme. By featuring bold sculpting it achieves a technical, fast and dynamic look.
Water Module Water activated heat packs are slotted in and activated by the plunger.
Mouth Piece Allows eating without a fork by aligning cut-outs in spout and lid; automatically seals once closed.
Quick Release Mechanism allows for attachment to railings. Device attaches to main railing frame and wire for stability.
Flip Spout (2) Injection moulded Polypropylene parts are bolted together and sealed with a rubber gasket. Release Button Polypropylene injection moulded part allows the Top Cap to remain firmly shut. It also contains a small boss on back to attach the spring. Main Casing (2) Injection moulded ABS (with PC additive and UV stabilizer) provides structure and locates Food Container, Plunger Housing and Button. Self Tapping Hex Screws (4) Four standard self-tapping hex screws attach Main Casing together.
Frame (2) Injection moulded ABS (with PC additive and UV stabilizer) provides style and covers hex screws.
Plunger Housing The plunger housing holds water until activation. It is bayonet fitted into the Heating Chamber.
Top Cap Injection moulded ABS (with PC additive and UV stabilizer) provide a rigid, impact resistant casing with great UV resistance. Part houses button ribbing and spout clasp. Food Container Compression moulded Silicone Elastomer creates a seal-able food safe cavity for storage. Quick Release Tab Stamped and pressed steel Quick Release Tab with two small springs to provide general tension.
Textured Grip TPE die cut rubber provides a tactile, wear resistant grip.
Heating Chamber, Plunger & Spring Injection moulded Polypropylene container for heating pack, activated by plunger compression to insert water into the Heating Chamber.
05. Glucose Monitoring Device A 4 month detailed design project leading to the creation of IORA, a connected diabetic glucose monitor with automated monitoring and feedback. Aimed at improving the child to parent communication and reassurance regarding diabetes. concept generation, prototyping, branding, mechanical development, CMF, usability, HF
Low-fi Prototypes A series of foam models created to explore ergonomics and usability

Sketch Ideation Loose hand sketches to explore form and touch points before prototyping
Lancing Shield The rubber lancing shield hides the needle for a user friendly experience.
Removable Compartment The removable compartment contains sterile needle and test strip storage.
Endo-skeleton Frame An endo-skeleton style frame enables all 3 external casings to attach with no visible clips or screws.
Notched Lance Depth A cut-out into the unique notched rotating stopper; built to easily adjust and activate with a twist and push action.
Lancing Needle Carrier A semi-fixed needle carrier rotates within a limit, whilst moving up and down within a limit to safely release needle.
Case Parts Lock onto the Top Endoskeleton with one-time snap-fits. This reduces the screws needed.
Multi-facet Needle The standard Multi-facet Needle held via the Needle Carrier. Fired at 7-10N to pierce the skin. The needle resets the firing mechanism when pushed upwards.
Lower Endo-skeleton An internal frame which all external body parts snap-fit onto with two one-time hooks. This part also contains bump-offs for the Removable Compartment, and houses batteries and PCB.
Top Spring Allows the Top Button to independently return when pressed down past lance click.
Multi-function Top Button Functions as a lance depth adjuster and firing dial, with a simple twist and push action.
Top Endo-skeleton An internal frame, which all external body parts snap onto, with two one-time snap-fit hooks.
Middle Spring Provides between 7-10N of force, directed through the Needle Carrier and into the Multi-facet Needle.
Rotating Stopper Axially linked with Top Button, it allows rotation within a 90 degree set range. Contains set heights for lance depth. Fins in Top Button align with Stopper to allow button to be pressed freely.
Needle Carrier Holds the Multi-facet needle. It contains two cantilevers which catch on the Rotating Stopper once released via the Top Button.
Guide Locks the Needle Carrier axially, and guides the Carrier cantilevers once released.
Lancing Shield A silicone sheath covers the Needle and bottom opening, and creates a small vacuum when pushed against skin.
Electronics PCB contains all electronics needed for function, powered by a custom battery pack.
Removable Compartment Bottom Casing clicks into the Lower Endoskeleton, and contains storage for spare needles and test strips.
Screen & Backing Screws onto the Front Casing, and sandwiches the e-ink display.

Prepare Pull off bottom cap and take out a sterile lancet and blood test pad. This action also powers on the device. Load Pull apart the two parts of the device and insert the lancet and test pad into both sides.
Awareness Child feels left out due to a sudden dip in glucose. This is dangerous if left untreated, and can be prevented with regular glucose tests.
Test Use the top segment to prick the finger tip. With a small vacuum, just 20 seconds is long enough to draw blood. The vacuum also reduces the pain, which is a great feature for children.
Reading & Results Click both halves together to receive a reading on the screen. Data is pushed to a smart phone of your choice.

Design Reality Ltd (2016 - 2017 & 2018 - ) / 1 yr 10+ months A member within the Medical Team tackling client facing projects in a range of sectors: including Medical, Industrial and Consumer. Actively working throughout the whole process, utilising strategy and problem solving abilities daily.
3D Hubs Student Grant - Shortlisted (2018) The project Kyor was shortlisted from thousands of entries by 3D Hubs. The awarded represents the most innovative student projects using 3D printing in the fields of Architecture, Engineering and Product Design.
View Creative Agency (VCA) (2017) / 1 week A summer internship at View Creative Agency (VCA); a design and branding consultancy, where branding, UX and illustration projects where completed.
Commercial Potential Award - Nomination (2018) Nominated out of nearly 200 students to be short-listed for the Commercial Potential Award; given to projects with high potential to succeed in commerce by the Loughborough University Enterprise Office.
Robogals EMEA (2014 - 2015) / 9 months A volunteer teacher in Leicestershire primary schools with the initiative of introducing engineering, design and coding to girls of a young age. Involved working in teams to teach groups of 4-5 children for a couple of sessions each semester.

New Designers - Exhibitor (2018) One of the 14 selected by staff and students to represent Loughborough Design School at New Designers 2018 with the project Kyor. Exhibition at London in July. Diploma in Professional Studies (DPS) (2017) Diploma in Professional Studies (DPS) awarded by Loughborough University on successful completion of the placement year at Design Reality with submission of a Dissertation. WorldStar Student Certificate of Merit (2015) The prestigious award was held by the World Packaging Organisation, and was awarded for my design of the Robinsonâ€™s Squashâ€™d Bottle. Sponsored by Robinsons, the entry achieved overall 4th highest, and highest in category.
Current Employment Design Reality Iâ€™m currently working in the Medical Team, developing a range of products for notable industry clients and start-ups, whilst providing additional support to current projects throughout manufacturing and launch. The role includes being a client facing member and project lead within medical, defence, scientific and consumer sectors, actively using a ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 QMS and regularly implementing strategy and problem solving capabilities. Since first starting in 2016, Iâ€™ve already become a significant team member, having assisted in developing three products currently on the market, implementing leadership, engineering, insight analysis, usability, service design and digital experience.
