how to live together vienna, austria Team: Paula Palermo, Markus Miessen, Berta CusĂł, Pelin Alkan, Tasos A., AnniLeo, Giannella Cocco

How To Live Together explores the conditions and prospects of living together in terms of individual and social dimensions. Key factors of this survey exhibition not only include dynamics and shifts at the political and economic level, but also changing social relations. The development of the visual identity was based in the discussion of the power of words as influence and communication. Sprawled in the city of vienna the publicity has the role of politizing and stimulating the political and social discussions involved in the exhibition.

reden ist nicht immer die Lösung berlin, germany Team: Paula Palermo, Markus Miessen, Berta Cusó, Felix McNamara, Frixos Petrou

For Omer Fast’s show at the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin, Berlin-based architects Studio Miessen – in collaboration with scenographer Heike Schuppelius – developed a waiting room typology that unfolds through the exhibition as a series of ideologically charged inbetween-spaces. These waiting rooms present passive spaces of broadcast political consumption. This is also reflected in the printed matter that was developed for the show resulting in a freely distributed tabloid magazine that doubles as a catalogue of the exhibition.

carthographies of absence amazonia, brazil Team: Paula Palermo, Román Alonso

This is a study of the different forms of cartographic representation, especially when we approach the absence. The term “grilagem” in Brazil was born to represent the process to fake ownership documents using crickets to give the old characteristic and desintegration of fake papers to seem old. The absence of the oficiality of those enormeus territories in Brasil is dangerous and runs against the protection to ban deforestation and crimes against the original native communities.

Precarious times of uncertain futures require different forms of discursive spaces. Instead of formalized institutional conditions, the project claims normative, popular spaces of conversation as a form of practice. Our physical contribution to the gallery space consists of a single bar element – which acts as central assembly for Future Climates – as well as a shopfront-sign, a smoke-machine, and a double neon strip-light.

CEPAL

academic representative Santiago, Chile

I had the opportunity to be the Academic Representative from my School of Architecture in the South American Meeting for Sustainable Development, organized by the Economic Comission for Latin America and Caribe. The knowledge of the system of the United Nations, and the contact with many fields of discussion is an unforgatable experience. It was one of the first times that I could combine my two different fields of study, Economic Development and Urban Planning.
