The Campbell Times
New year, new residence hall, new beginning From the stylish look to the thin walls, students weigh in on the new residence hall By Austen Brennan @ABrennanCT Nearly two years have passed since construction began on Luby Wood Hall. When the crew first arrived, I was still a sophomore living in Bob Barker, grumbling about the reduced parking space and chain-link fence that forced a beastly march to the car. Construction delays courtesy of the Great Freeze that year (which made the forced march all the more dangerous), and Hurricane Matthew the next, left students wondering if the new dorm would ever reach completion. Now, the dorm, named for one of Campbell University’s trustees, is finally housing its first cohort of residents. Walking up to it, one word immediately springs to mind, as succinctly put by President J. Bradley Creed: “Wow.” The modern looking structure signals a fastexpanding campus without changing the close-knit atmosphere that draws so many bright students to Campbell.
