Amenity Campus Ready to Break Ground

All Things

Currahee

From the Desk of Andrew Ward - Managing Director

Employees of the Month

Dear Currahee Family & Friends, We are delighted to share with you our first newsletter full of news, views and updates of all things Currahee. We believe we will achieve more progress here in the next 4 months than we have since we purchased Currahee back in July 2011, so this will be the first of many new style communications you will receive from our Team. We do hope you enjoy reviewing the site plans for the Currahee Amenity Campus, which we are striving to break ground on before June this year. You will read, with great interest I am sure, news from within the Currahee Team about preview golf memberships, vertical home plans, discovery packages and the like as we breathe new life and Currahee Calm back into this wonderful property. We are currently searching for, and then recruiting a Head Chef and Club Manager to take care of all our F&B needs in 2012 and beyond, so do please let us know if you have excellent referrals! As you get to meet and know the current Team of leadership and management that we have both chosen to retain and thus far recruited, I feel very confident that you will appreciate the professional level we are attaining to ensure Currahee’s future success.

Molly Hicks - January’s Manager of the month

I want to share with you all the continued wonderful support that the Principals in our ownership company, Landology Hartwell, has given to myself and our entire Team as we move along this journey of progression and the relaunch of all things Currahee; they have committed to a long term passionate hold of this investment. We would like to sincerely thank you all for your patience and support as we took over ownership in the latter half of 2011, and got our arms wrapped around the project. We are truly excited about the future as we now get under way in earnest. For all our Team now, the priority is the road ahead, and we are totally focused on moving forward, working with you all, as well as the Leadership of Stephens County and Toccoa as we strive to bring The Currahee Club back to life. Thank you for joining on this exciting journey….. Andrew D. Ward Managing Director All things Currahee

The Magnificent

Currahee Clubhouse

As the meaning of the word Currahee says the Currahee clubhouse “Stands Alone.” It is like a beacon in the night and a Champion on the mountain. Every angle is amazing, every room drenched in elegance. From the Stone porte cochere you’ll feel the warmth and richness in the club and how every piece was hand chosen for its part in the timeless mountain design. The center of the building features a 60 foot grand lodge with soaring 20 foot beamed ceilings and bookend fireplaces, stunning chandeliers, leather sofas and fantastic oriental rugs. The Fazio pub has warm wood walls and chairs with views for miles through its oversized picture windows. Enjoy afternoon cocktails on one of the Club’s three stone terraces.

The club has spectacular men’s and ladies locker rooms with card rooms, covered porches, private bar and concierge services. The Golf Shop is beautifully detailed with men’s and ladies golf attire, children’s clothes, shoes, hats, accessories, glassware and Currahee logo gifts - something for everyone. If you have not experienced the Currahee clubhouse please do. Come see one of the most stunning mountain clubhouses in the country.

The Currahee

Community Update

ANNE SHURLEY-COMMUNITY MANAGER It is with great pride that I represent Currahee in the role of Community Manager. We are all very excited about the future and building strong ongoing communication between Currahee, its residents, property owners, members and their guests as well as Toccoa and Stephens County. We know how important this is today and how much it will be for the future of Currahee’s success. With this in mind we formed the Currahee Communications Committee and had our first meeting in February. I am the chair and am pleased to be joined by Ron Shaver, Laurie Salomon, Janney Sanders and Margaret Kopchick. Quoting Laurie Salomon, “we are a small group, dedicated to keeping the lines of communication open in Currahee and the surrounding community, and to act as a sounding board for those that may have questions and/or concerns. Our goal is to bring together and create a close relationship between all of the residents, club members and property owners of this amazing community!” In our continued reach out to connect to the local area Currahee is hosting a career day on March 10th at the Currahee Clubhouse. This will be an opportunity for jobseekers to present their resumes, network, find out more about Currahee Club with one-on-one meetings with the team and a chance to learn about a variety of educational programs offered in the community. I have joined the Toccoa Rotary Club, serve as an Ambassador for the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce, am a member of the Toccoa Downtown Main Street promotions committee and the Georgia Department of Labor Employer Committee. I am also actively participating with the Lake Hartwell Marketing Alliance. For the Lake alliance we are planning a poster contest as part of the 50th anniversary of the Hartwell Dam and Lake project. Andrew brought the poster idea here after doing something similar in Putnam County. The opportunity presented itself to tie the poster contest in with the Lake Hartwell anniversary and involve all six counties surrounding the lake. The winners will be on a 2013 calendar and we will make sure they are available to all of our members and guests.

Stephens County Historic Courthouse / Toccoa-Stephens Co. Chamber of Commerce / Currahee Post Office I am also meeting with the Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful Board and exploring the possibility of Currahee adopting Oak Valley Road. Lastly, we have a Currahee Club face book page and I invite everyone to “Like” our page which provides photographs and information on all things Currahee. Currahee means “Stand Alone”, but with the support of our property owners, members and the local community, Currahee is “Standing Strong.” We look forward to being a large part of our residents lives and the lives of the surrounding counties’ families for many years to come.

Currahee Amenity Campus –

The Total Package

We are fortunate enough at Currahee to have collaborated with the “Disney” of amenity design – Paul Basham of Basham & Lucas. Paul’s vision is unequaled in the creation of community fun for everyone in the family. He sees ways to build Swim Clubs, Recreational Areas and Sports Facilities unlike anyone we have ever seen. Paul, who is based in Jacksonville, has surveyed this tract of land several times and visited as recently as late February 2012 to ensure his vision for this important Campus fits with the views and natural lay of the land. He has worked very closely with Landology Hartwell and our Team in creating an Amenity Campus that works well with the present needs of our Club based on its current size of property ownership and membership; while always considering areas for future expansion as we grow our Club too. Ground breaking is planned for June 2012 with an expected 12 month project timeline.

There will be a Sports Club with a concierge service and an Activity Manager, Workout Room, Group Classes Room, Arcade and the Splash Grille and Bar with indoor and outdoor poolside dining. Adjacent to the pool you will find Trellis Shaded Walkways & Patios, Fire Pits, The Lawn, Tennis Courts, Bocchi Ball courts, Tetherball and a complete 9 hole Mini Golf Course. All of this is surrounded by hiking and jogging trails as well as cart paths for golf cart traffic and parking. If you don’t live at Currahee now, next spring you will want to… Just wait!

Currahee Security

The first thing you see when you arrive at Currahee is our beautiful main gate. The next is our warm and welcoming 24/7 security staff. We have a great team of security to watch over us here at Currahee. We are truly blessed. Our Property Owners Association provides us our guard services and this excellent team, headed by Security Supervisor David Lewis, is listed below. These dedicated professionals man the main gate and assist all of our residents and their guests with anything concerning security. Having a private gated community with professional guard staff who genuinely care is just one more attribute that makes Currahee such a special place. Thank you to all of our security team members. We appreciate everything you do for us and your daily warm welcome home.

March Tip from the Pro

As I get to know all the nuances of Currahee Club I would offer the following lesson to all who play Currahee Club. Practice your long bunker play! We have many bunker shots near the greens that require a different club than just your sand wedge. Next time you are facing a long uphill bunker shot on #18 try to hit it with your gap wedge, pitching wedge, or even an 8 iron. Make your normal bunker shot swing and let the club produce a little more carry instead of trying to hit it harder. The key to this shot is tempo. Most players tend to hit bunker shots too hard. Swing at the speed you think it will take to carry the ball the desired distance and remember that the more club you use the more the ball will roll out.

From the Desk of

Susan Verlander

We hope everyone enjoys reading our first inaugural “Views From The Top” Currahee Club newsletter. Currahee is so beautiful and we have so many exciting changes taking place that we wanted to begin updating every one as soon as possible. So happy reading and watch for our next edition of “Views From The Top” this summer. As the sales and marketing director for Currahee I have the honor and pleasure of not only bringing the Currahee message to the masses, but creating the home collections to be offered in the community. Because of this I see the Currahee brand taking shape every day and becoming many different things to many different people. Currahee, for some today, is home; it is their retreat and the place where they bring their family to relax or to play. For others it is their respite from the busy outside world and a place to unwind, rejuvenate and find their Currahee calm. No matter what Currahee is to you or your family we are thrilled to see it growing and becoming the amazing community it was so carefully and painstakingly planned to be. Soon we will be sending a series of E-blast to interested families inviting them to come to Currahee and experience the community on a two- night Discovery Tour Getaway. We will also offer everyone our One Year Preview Memberships as a way to live the Currahee Club lifestyle as a try before you buy special. Families buying Preview Memberships will be the first to be offered permanent golf or social memberships when these are released later as well as our first homes. Values will be on a first come first serve basis. For Currahee real estate we are designing two new neighborhoods that will feature new homes. One called Timber Ridge Cottages, will have homes in the $300’s to $500’s and the other Timber Ridge Manors will have homes in the $400’s to $600’s. We will have designer models for each village early 2013. Reservations to secure early bird prices for these homes will be taken on our first phases in each village as soon as this summer with home construction starting this fall. Call me to be put on our - CPB or Currahee Preferred Buyer list for our first home releases.

From the Desk of

Tom Rodgers Tom Rodgers, Director of Development In addition to beginning construction on the Currahee Amenity Campus we will begin creating access to Lake Hartwell with cleared out lake club area and a temporary boat dock which will be available this spring for property owners and members. If that goes well in this location during 2012 we will then build a Lake Pavilion in the same area that we expect to have ready for next year’s boating season.

We have also received full approval for our private sewer system and have completed hook up for over 65% of the residences in the community. We plan to reach the balance of homes by this summer. We have finalized a plan for street lighting of our main parkway road system and additional lighting around the Club House which will be completed this year too. We will be engineering and platting homesites for our first two villages of new homes in the Timber Ridge section of the community near our main entrance. These homes are expected to be ready early Spring 2013. It is our Departments intent in the medium and long term to provide our home owners with full repair and maintenance services on their homes year round thus making ownership in Currahee all the more enjoyable. Our Golf Grounds Team will begin this service in 2012 by offering you landscaping services at preferred rates for your homes and they will contact you shortly to ascertain your interest and requirements. In the mean time please do not hesitate to contact me if I can offer you any guidance or help with your property.
