Are you 16-24 years old?

Would you like to learn new skills, build your confidence, and improve your CV? Then we have an excellent opportunity for you! Our new 19 week programmes allow you to gain the skills and experience required for the type of job you are interested in, and also give you a chance to showcase your talents during a hands-on work experience. What’s involved? The course will last for 19 weeks in total. 13 weeks of the course will be spent in the College (over 2½ days per week), where you will learn exciting new skills in an interactive environment.

We have four courses available to choose fr om: Care: Page 3 Customer Care AND Administration Skills: Page 4 Hospitality: Page 5 Retail: Page 6

These will prepare you for working in your chosen area. You will then take part in a six week, full-time work experience (variable hours) to give you a chance to put the skills you have learned into action! Do I get a qualification at the end of the course? Yes, you will be awarded SQA units. These units not only look great on your CV, but can also count towards entry qualifications for further study at college. What about funding? Care If you are looking to build the skills to put you on the road to becoming a valuable employee within the care sector, then this is the course for you. You will develop the skills used within the care sector, putting you one step ahead of the competition. You will then have the opportunity to apply these skills in the work place during your placement allowing you to gain a world of experience. Duration: 19 weeks: 13 weeks (2 ½ weekdays) in classroom and 6 weeks (full-time) work experience.

Moving on: On completing this course you could progress to NQ Introduction to Care and Education.

What you need: Units at Intermediate 1 or previous experience. Also a strong interest working within the Care Sector.

Job options: This course will also prepare you for a career within a care environment.

What’s involved: First Aid, REHIS Food Hygiene and Employability Skills certification, Moving and Handling, Personal Development and Self Awareness. Places available by age groups

If you want the skills to set you on your journey to a successful career within the world of the modern office, then this is the course for you. You will develop the skills and knowledge to give you the foundations for your future. You will also have the opportunity to put these skills and knowledge into practice during a work experience and gain valuable experience in the sector. Duration: 19 weeks: 13 weeks (2 ½ weekdays) in classroom and 6 weeks (full-time) work experience. What you need: Units at Access 3 and a strong interest in Customer Care and Administration. What’s involved: Customer Care, Office Software Applications, IOSH Working Safely and Employability Skills certification, Office Practice, Keyboarding Skills, Personal Development and Self Awareness.

Moving on: On completing this course you could progress to NQ Business. Job options: This course will also prepare you for a career within an office or administration departments. This course will start on 05 November 2012 18 February 2013 Places available by age groups 16-19

Hospitality If you are looking for the recipe for a promising career within the hospitality sector and want the skills to prepare you for this industry, then this is the course for you. You will gain valuable practical skills and knowledge used throughout the sector. You will also have the opportunity to put these skills into practice in the working environment during your time on work experience. Duration: 19 weeks: 13 weeks (2 ½ weekdays) in classroom and 6 weeks (full-time) work experience.

Moving on: On completing this course you could progress to City and Guilds Diploma in Introduction to Professional Cookery.

What you need: No formal qualifications but an interest in working within the Hospitality and Catering industry.

Job options: This course will also prepare you for a career within the Hospitality or Catering industry.

What’s involved: REHIS Food Hygiene, Customer Care and Employability Skills certification, Practical Cooking, Front of House and Hospitality Skills, Personal Development and Self Awareness.

You will develop a wealth of knowledge and skills to take with you onto a career within retail. You will also be able to apply these newly sharpened skills in the retail environment during your work experience. Duration: 19 weeks: 13 weeks (2 ½ weekdays) in classroom and 6 weeks (full-time) work experience. What you need: Units at Access 3 and a strong interest in working within the Retail Industry. What’s involved: IOSH Working Safely, Customer Care and Employability Skills certification, Sales Techniques, Personal Development and Self Awareness.

Moving on: On completing this course you could progress to NQ Business. Job options: This course will also prepare you for a career within retail. This course will start on 05 November 2012 18 February 2013 Places available by age groups 16-19
