In the footsteps of The Beatles

Experience the sights and sounds of Liverpool during The Beatles’ era as you make your way around their childhood homes, schools and the places that inspired their song-writing, such as Penny Lane and Strawberry Field. Wander down Mathew Street and enjoy a drink and live music in the world famous Cavern Club, before taking a photograph with the statue of John Lennon and Eleanor Rigby and marvelling at the Liverpool ‘Wall of Fame’. Then stroll along the city’s iconic UNESCO World Heritage waterfront and take in the life-size bronze statue of the ‘Fab Four’ set in front of the impressive Three Graces.

Cultural Liverpool walking tour The city is full to the brim with history, art, music and theatre and a walking tour will bring the buildings and institutions that shaped Liverpool to life. On William Brown Street, you will certainly be impressed by the stunning architecture on display from the imposing Grade I listed St George’s Hall, the amazing Central Library where historical reading rooms meet state-of-the-art 21st century design to the Walker Art Gallery, home to one of Europe’s finest collections of paintings, drawings, sculpture and decorative art. A stroll along Hope Street will allow you to take in the visual splendour of the Liverpool Cathedral and the Metropolitan Cathedral, with a tempting selection of independent eateries to enjoy on the way. In the city centre, the Bluecoat Arts Centre is a 300 year old building offering a cultured programme of visual art, literature, music and dance. As you make your way back to the waterfront, take a walk amongst the colonnades of the Albert Dock before heading to Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum and then over to the Museum of Liverpool, where the majestic Three Graces can be seen lining the shore alongside your awaiting ship.

Grade I listed, St George’s Hall opened in 1854 and is widely acknowledged as one of the finest neoclassical buildings in the world, with its magnificent 720sqm Great Hall gilded with chandeliers, stained glass windows, barrel vaulted ceiling and famous Willis organ. Liverpool Town Hall was constructed between 1749 and 1820 and is a Grade I listed, flagship building in the Castle Street conservation area of the city. It is one of the finest surviving 18th century town halls in the country and is often frequented by Royalty and visitors from around the world. National Trust’s Speke Hall is a stunning example of a Tudor manor house with restored Victorian interiors. Situated in a unique setting, it is surrounded by attractive gardens protected by a collar of woodland. Constructed by a devout Catholic family, who were keen to impress visitors with their home’s grandeur, this beautiful building has witnessed more than 400 years of turbulent history.

Our shopping experience is second to none and with over 160 stores in Liverpool ONE alone the big decision will be where to start? Round the corner Church Street also boasts great retail names, as well as Bold Street, regarded as one of the best independent shopping streets in the UK.

Charming Chester & Port Sunlight

Chester sparkles with a magical heritage. Completely encircled by city walls, archaeological excavations have revealed a 2000 year old Roman Amphitheatre the largest stone-built arena of its kind in Britain. Striking with their black and white Tudor style appearance, the 13th century ‘Rows’ are two tiers of enticing shops waiting to be explored. Chester Cathedral is a 13th century Norman Cathedral and was the site of Handel’s first public performance of ‘The Messiah’ in 1742.

Picturesque Port Sunlight houses a museum showing the history of this workers’ village and is the perfect place to stop for afternoon tea. Following lunch, visit the stunning collections and exhibitions at the Lady Lever Art Gallery. Regarded as one of the finest art galleries in Europe, it features the best collection of Wedgwood Jasperware anywhere in the world.

Breathtaking Lake District

In the late 18th and early 19th century, William Wordsworth was so inspired by the beauty of the Lake District that he wrote some of the most enchanting poetry the English language has ever known. Breath-taking lakes, streams, mountains and villages of this beautiful corner of England, have been stunningly immortalised in verse.

Wonderful Wales

Discover an area of outstanding natural beauty, with mountain peaks, lush forests, sparkling lakes and enchanting medieval castles. In Llangollen, you’ll browse the village shops and then board the Llangollen railway for a scenic seven-mile ride on a restored steam locomotive. You will see many of the glorious wonders that North Wales is proud to offer, including the Snowdonia National Park, which is one of the largest National parks in the UK. Conway Castle is one of the most impressive castles in Wales with its soaring curtain walls, three fortified gates and eight towers.

England’s golf coast Liverpool city region is a world-class destination for golf and home to 20 of the finest and most naturally beautiful golf courses in Britain, three of which are Royal Links courses. Royal Birkdale, set amid spectacular sand dunes, is the number 1 golf course in Britain and host to the Open Championship in 2017. Royal Lytham & St Anne’s in Lancashire is one of the premier links courses in the world and has played host to ten Open Championships and two Ryder Cups. Royal Liverpool is the second oldest seaside links course in England, as well as home to one of the best collections of golf memorabilia outside St Andrews.
