Recent changes to immigration and cross-border migration have resulted in a considerable increase in migrant communities within Lincoln/shire, especially from areas of Eastern Europe. This change in demographic has caused tensions, especially since the referendum, revealing challenges faced by both migrating and host populations.
This project recognizes the challenges faced by migrants in trying to assimilate into a new, wider community, but also those faced by UK communities in trying to understand and embrace the different cultures of the new communities.
This publication is an introduction to the Memory, Migration and Music project and to those Lithuanian and Polish residents of Lincolnshire who gave generously and enthusiastically of their time in the sharing of their migration stories.
The project was funded by the Heritage Lottery.
