Professor’s Expertise in Industry is an Ef fective Resource for MBA Students In his assessment of the recent housing crisis, Michael LaCour-Little believes that an accurate diagnosis of the problem is essential to crafting an effective solution. LaCour-Little, a professor of finance and co-director of Mihaylo College’s Real Estate and Land Use Institute, is one of the nation’s most respected real estate research scholars and is ranked No. 3 worldwide for research productivity in real estate journals. Prior to joining the faculty at Mihaylo in 2006, LaCour-Little was an executive in the mortgage industry and served as executive vice president of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association. Greg Waller’s Lifetime Investment In the world of corporate finance, Greg Waller is a business titan. With his experience and expertise, he has routinely managed, raised and saved figures in the hundreds of millions of dollars for his employers. Graduating from Mihaylo in 1978 with an MBA in accounting, Waller has been busy crunching the big numbers ever since. “Mihaylo afforded me the opportunity for my financial career and success in life. I owe it all to the education I received here,” says Waller. Following a successful 25year career as vice president, chief financial officer and controller for Sybron Dental Specialties and their various subsidiaries, he became the chief financial officer for Universal Building Products in 2006, the largest privately held manufacturer of concrete forms in North America. In addition to his current CFO position, Waller’s reputation earned him seats on four Greg Waller, ’72, ’78 MBA, chief financial officer, Universal Building Products Inc.

Alumni Hire Fellow Mihaylo MBA Graduates In paying it forward to her fellow Mihaylo graduates, Rochelle Reiter is taking care of her own. As an undergraduate majoring in business administration, Reiter was sitting in her consumer-behavior class when guest lecturer and Mihaylo alumnus Wes Phillips ’76 came in to speak. Upon Reiter’s graduation in 1995, she interviewed with Phillips, the CEO of Orange Label Art + Advertising, and was immediately hired as a media assistant. Working her way up in the company, she returned to earn her MBA from Mihaylo in our FEMBA program for working professionals. Shortly after receiving her MBA in 2000, she was promoted to Orange Label’s vice president of business development. Says Reiter: “More than 60 percent of our employees are Cal State Fullerton grads, including our company president and CEO. Our organization routinely recruits at CSUF for new hires.” Reiter is now a partner in the company and celebrated her 14th year with Orange Label Art + Advertising.

Student Diversity and Long-term Value Draws Student Ahn “Annie” Tran Across The Nation to Mihaylo In touch with her community and her culture at Mihaylo, student Ahn “Annie” Tran has a deep appreciation for the rich diversity of Southern California. Born and raised in Vietnam, Tran came to the United States as a high school exchange student in West Virginia. Upon graduation, she moved west and earned a bachelor’s degree in business at Mihaylo College and knew her next step was a graduate degree. “I entered the MBA program here after comparing it to other programs and recognizing the tremendous value that Mihaylo offers,”says Tran. In addition to pursing her MBA, Tran is working as an investment analyst intern and studying for her first level of CFA. “I’ve learned so much from the many different perspectives I’m exposed to at Mihaylo. I work and learn with students and teachers who come here from all over the world.”

MBA Student David Mock Re-routes His Career Path with an MBA In choosing to pursue an MBA from Mihaylo, student David Mock represents the hard working business leaders Mihaylo is known for. Mock received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and worked for 15 years as an engineer and group manager for Beckman Coulter. He recently started his own consulting firm, Primium Analytics, which provides technical and business strategy services to a wide array of companies. Mock decided to further leverage his skills across multiple industries with the credibility of an MBA with a concentration in information systems. “I compared the MBA at Mihaylo to other well-known institutions across the country, and I chose Mihaylo because of the college’s close ties to the business community and its continued expansion and development of significant new programs,” he says. “Other excellent schools offer programs that are similar, but my experience at Mihaylo allows me to be part of something bigger and better in my community.”

The Mihaylo MBA Program Our students can choose to fine tune their MBA in 11 different areas including Accounting, Business Intelligence, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Information Systems, International Business, Management, Management Science, Marketing, and Risk Management and Insurance. Or, you may pursue an MBA without a concentration. With the flexibility to complete your program either full- or part-time, the basic curriculum consists of 10 foundation courses, four concentration courses and a capstone course. The foundation courses assure a complete understanding of the world marketplace while the concentration courses provide a particular area of focus.

Capstone Class Consulting Project A highlight of our program is the strategy capstone class where student teams complete a major consulting project with an area business. The learning experiences and environment of the MBA program has fostered a tradition of excellence with our students winning a cumulative 39 national awards from the National Small Business Institute’s case competition, placing in the top 10 for 18 of the last 19 years, and placing in the region’s top three at a recent ACG Cup competition.

A Customized MBA Program that Works with Your Schedule Courses are offered Monday through Thursday in the late afternoon (4-6:45) and in the evening (7-9:45). A majority of our students attend part-time and take two courses per semester, thus allowing them to graduate in two-and-a-half years. Full-time students, even those without an undergraduate degree in business, can usually complete the full program in less than two years, and some finish in as little as 16 months. Students entering with a bachelor’s in business may be eligible to replace several courses, thus further customizing their degree.
