The Business Honors Program


Eligibility* Two groups of students may apply for admission to the Business Honors Program: First–time freshman who have been admitted with a major in business administration. Current business majors and transfer students who will begin their junior year. To be considered for admission to the Business Honors Program, all students must: Demonstrate leadership, community service and/or creativity in their educational pursuits. Exhibit the desire to enrich their educational experience.

Submit an online application packet, which includes an essay, two letters of reference and high school or college transcripts. In addition, students must have a strong academic record, and: First–time freshman should target a weighted grade point average of 3.75 in college preparatory course work in high school, and a combined SAT score of 1725 points (or equivalent ACT score.) Eligibility is determined based on a combination of GPA and SAT scores plus extra-curricular activities. Juniors entering (from CSUF or a community college) must achieve a 3.50 grade point average in their prior college work. * Eligibility requirements are subject to change without notice.

The Business Honors Program Program Requirements While in the Business Honors Program, you must complete the designated curriculum each semester, which consists of the lower division core courses for incoming freshmen and sophomores and the upper division core courses for juniors and seniors. To earn the Honors designation at graduation, students must also: Participate in extra-curricular activities including leadership opportunities, community service, and academic enrichment workshops and seminars Meet the minimum GPA requirements for continued eligibility:

• A cumulative GPA of 3.25 at the end of the first academic year, • A cumulative GPA of 3.40 at the end of second academic year, • A cumulative GPA of 3.50 at the end of third and fourth academic year.

Applications will be screened by a committee comprised of faculty, staff and current Business Honors students. Selected students undergo a personal interview with college members. Incoming juniors with a 3.60 GPA average in college work will automatically be granted an interview. The final decision for admission into our Business Honors Program is based upon your interview and overall qualifications.
