MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING The Vikings will be off from competition
until Feb. 2nd when CSU heads to UIC to conclude the regular season in a Horizon League dual meet. CSU improved to 12-3-1 on the year following a 1-1 stretch in the final weekend of home competition this past weekend. The Vikings first fell to Notre Dame Friday in a close meet, before bringing home a win vs. Wright State Saturday on Senior Day. Seniors Berry Thompson and Mark de Swardt performed well in their final home weekend, with each picking up individual wins in both meets. On Friday, Thompson earned two individual wins and also teamed to win the 200 free relay. de Swardt won the 1,650 freestyle by a dominating 21 seconds and was second in the 500 freestyle. Senior Justin Hill claimed two wins on Saturday, winning 50 free. Thompson once again won the 100 freestyle and deSwardt claimed 500 and 1,000 free.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING The Vikings women’s will be on the road on Sat-
urday (Jan. 26) as they head to Akron to take on the Zips at 1:00 p.m. The Vikings dominated on Senior Day this past Saturday, taking down Wright State and Youngstown State in Horizon League action. The wins improved the team’s record to 11-3 on the year. For a team led by seniors it was only fitting that they shined on their special day, with both Alice Sommerville and Joanna Olsson picking up multiple individual wins. Sommerville picked up two solo wins, winning both the 100 breaststroke (1:03.69) and 100 butterfly (56.97). Olsson also picked up two victories for CSU, taking home first in the 200 butterfly (2:06.96), and 200 IM (2:11.22).

Kiersten Green WOMEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings will close out their four-game homestand on Thurs-
day (Jan. 24), hosting Youngstown State at 7:00 p.m. Thursday’s game will be the lone contest of the week for Cleveland State. CSU enters the week at 10-7 overall and 2-2 in league play after dropping close contests to Green Bay (52-49) and Milwaukee (6360) last week. The Vikings had three players score in double-figures during each contest. Shalonda Winton had 13, Cori Coleman 12 and Honesty King 10 against Green Bay, while Winton scored 22, Kiersten Green 12 and Nafeshia Holifield 11 versus Milwaukee.
MEN’S TENNIS CSU will continue its roadswing on Thursday (Jan. 24), traveling to Ohio State for a 6:00 p.m. contest before returning home to host Binghamton on Sunday (Jan. 27). Sunday’s contest, which will be the first home match of the season for CSU, is set for an 11:00 a.m. start. Last weekend the Vikings opened their spring season, falling at Xavier (5-2) and at Penn State (7-0). CSU’s two points against the Musketeers came off of singles wins by Niklas Jonsson at the No. 5 spot (6-2, 7-5) and Nolan Marks at the No. 6 spot (6-4, 6-4).
Wednesday (Jan. 23) before heading to Youngstown State for a 2:00 p.m. contest on Saturday (Jan. 26). The Vikings dropped two games in Wisconsin over the weekend, slipping to 10-10 overall and 2-4 in the Horizon League. CSU fell at Milwaukee, 69-57, on Thursday and dropped a 77-50 contest at Green Bay on Saturday Bryn Forbes extended his streak of double-digit scoring games to 11 straight, averaging 14.0 in the two games.
WOMEN’S TENNIS Following today’s (Monday, Jan. 21) 10:00 a.m.
match at Boston University, CSU will take 11 days off, returning to the courts on Friday, Feb. 1 when they travel to Toledo for a 6:00 p.m. contest. Cleveland State opened the spring season on Sunday (Jan. 20), falling at No. 74 Harvard, 7-0. Freshman Mathilde Orange made her CSU debut against the Crimson, falling 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Orange also teamed up with classmate Ellen Folkers at No. 3 doubles for the Vikings.
WRESTLING The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday when they head to Edinboro to wrestle in Eastern Wrestling League action at 7:00 p.m. CSU is 3-4, following split last weekend. CSU first fell in a match that went down to the wire, 19-17 on Friday to Lock Haven, before bouncing back and picking up 21-17 win Sunday vs. Chattanooga. CSU posted five wins on Friday, including major decisions from Xavier Dye and Mike Carlone. On Sunday, Ben Willeford earned a 5-4 win over the 19thranked 125-pounder in the nation.

Thompson had two outstanding meets in his final two meets in Busbey Natatorium over the weekend. In a setback to Notre Dame on Friday, Thompson won the 50 and 100 freestyle and teamed with three teammates to win the 200 freestyle relay. He came back on Saturday to win the 100 freestyle and team to win the 400 free relay in a Senior Day win over Wright State.
