MEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings return to action on Saturday (Dec. 8) when

CSU plays at North Carolina State at 1:00 p.m. The game, which can be seen live on ESPN3, will be played at Reynolds Coliseum. CSU enters the week at 6-2 after picking up two wins last week, winning at Ball State (69-63) on Wednesday and earning a 78-73 win over Toledo on Saturday in the Wolstein Center. Freshman Bryn Forbes scored a career-high 18 points in the win at Ball State and followed that with 16 points against Toledo en route to earning Horizon League Newcomer of the Week honors. Charlie Lee averaged 19.0 points in the two games, including a career-high 22 point effort vs. Toledo, while also dishing out 6.5 assists per game. Lee leads the league in assists (5.6), having dished out at least five assists in six of CSU’s eight games.

Women’s Basketball Hosts Miami (OH) WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING Cleveland State will try to continue its winning ways this weekend, The Vikings will be back in the pool on Tuesday as they hosting Miami (OH) in a 2:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, December host the Cleveland College Dual Meet Invitational at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium at 3:00 p.m. CSU will take on Canisius, Case Western, John Carroll, and Notre Dame (Ohio). Although most of the team was off from competition this past week, two swimmers, Alex Johansson and Alice Sommerville, traveled to Austin, Texas to represent the Vikings’ women’s squad at the AT@T Winter National Championships. Johansson swam in three events in the meet, the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 100 backstroke, while Sommerville swam in the 100 butterfly for CSU.

WRESTLING Cleveland State will have two weeks off from competition before the Vikings host the CSU Open on December 15th in Woodling Gym. CSU is coming off a tough 21-15 loss on the road to Eastern Michigan this past Friday. Despite the loss, four Vikings work able to pick up wins on the evening, led by a pin from 133-pounder Mike Carlone at the 4:35 mark. Nick Flannery (141 lb.), Mike Mencini (149 lb.), and Xavier Dye (174 lb.) also all picked up wins by decision.

8. Saturday’s contest against the Redhawks will be the lone game of the week for the Vikings, who are currently riding a two-game win streak. Last week CSU defeated VCU, 68-57 on Wednesday (Nov. 28), and then topped Indiana, 69-58 on Sunday (Dec. 2). Cleveland State’s contest against VCU was the first in program history, while the victory over Indiana marked the second all-time win over the Hoosiers. The Vikings had a couple of season-bests against Indiana, marking their best field goal percentage (.491) and committing just nine turnovers for the first time since the 2009-10 season. Shalonda Winton led the Vikings last week, averaging 20.0 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Kiersten Green (13.5 ppg) and Cori Coleman (13.0 ppg) also averaged double-digit points, while Haley Schmitt was just shy with 9.5 points per game. Green notched a career-high 15 points at Indiana, while Schmitt posted a career-best 12 points against VCU.

last weekend, as the Vikings fell to No. 20 Kansas, 3-1, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Despite the outcome, CSU had a program first against the Jayhawks, as they won a set in NCAA Tournament play (25-17) for the first time ever. The Vikings ended the season with a 23-7 record – the fourth straight 20-win season. During 2012, CSU captured the Horizon League Regular Season Title, the Horizon League Tournament Championship and posted a 13-match win streak – the second longest in program history. For the first time in program history the Vikings finished league play with a 13-1 mark, while also becoming just the second team in Horizon League history to finish with one loss or less during league play. Kara Koch, the Horizon League Player of the Year, finished her Viking career ranked in the top-two all-time in five categories at CSU – attack attempts (4,357-1st), kills (1,5762nd), kills per set (3.75-2nd), total points (1,754-2nd) and points per set (4.18-2nd). All-Horizon League selection Marie Frease and classmate Jackie Dabbelt also etched their names in the CSU career record book, Frease ranking third with a .322 hitting percentage and Dabbelt seventh at .288.

MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING The Cleveland State men’s swimming and diving team

will be back in the pool this Tuesday as they host the Cleveland College Dual Meet Invitational at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium at 3:00 p.m. CSU will be taking on Canisius, Case Western, John Carroll, and Notre Dame (Ohio). While the majority of the team was off from competition this past week, seven men’s swimmers participated in the AT@T Winter National Championships held in Austin, Texas. The Vikings were led by a sixth place finish from Justin Kermack in the 200 butterfly at the National Championships with a school record of 1:46.50. The team also made school history as a Vikings’ relay made the finals of a National Championship meet for the first time in school history. That 4x50 relay consisting of Justin Hill, Berry Thompson, Alex Lewis, and Al Shillito finished seventh nationally in a time of 1:21.60.

Last Week

The 4x50 relay team of Justin Hill, Berry Thompson, Alex Lewis and Al Shillito made history at the first day of the AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, Texas, advancing to the finals of the event to become the first relay team in program history to swim in the finals. After finishing eighth in the preliminaries with a time of 1:22.00, the group swam a time of 1:21.60 to finish seventh in the nation.
