The Conference

The College of Social Sciences at Kuwait University announces its 4th International Conference entitled "Social Sciences: Practical Solutions for Societal Issues", which will be held at Kuwait University on 29 November – 1 December 2010. The conference shall serve as a forum for facilitating meetings with specialists and experts from around the world; exchanging ideas in different fields of social sciences; discussing practical solutions for societal issues; and supporting national plans for developing societies. The conference also provides an opportunity to initiate critical thinking, share various cultural experiences and confront the challenges of the new millennium through cooperation, coordination, and utilization of social science concepts.

Who should attend?

The conference is open to anyone who has interest in any field of social sciences, such as sociology, social work, anthropology, psychology, geography, political sciences, and library and information science. The conference has tracks that will appeal to researchers, specialists and experts in universities, academic and professional institutions in government and private sectors, and nonprofit organizations. The Committee would like to invite those who are interested in participating in the conference's activities to submit professional and academic papers.

Guidelines for Authors

 Abstracts

of research papers should be sent in the language in which the paper will be presented (Arabic or English).

 The

research paper must neither have been presented at a previous conference, nor published before.

 Abstracts

should not exceed 250 words and should include: research problem, methodology and the probable results.

 The

abstract must be composed using a word processing program, which is compatible with Microsoft Office.

 The font

should be Times New Roman, size 12.

 Abstracts

of the research papers should be electronically submitted using the conference web page at: www.css.kuniv.edu/conf2010

 Researchers

must fill in the attached “Participation Form” and submit it through the conference website.

 Abstracts

and research papers shall be reviewed and the researchers shall be notified about the acceptance/non-acceptance of an abstract/paper.

 Full

papers should not exceed 20 of double spaced pages.

 PowerPoint

presentations need to be prepared for the accepted

papers.  All

the correspondence about papers should be made through the conference website.

The conference management will select papers that will be granted travel tickets and accommodation.
