Introducing Grant Ryan Perry Born: October 31, 2010 At 12:40am on October 31, 2010, Grant Ryan Perry entered the world. He was 8 lbs. 8oz and 21 inches long. Let me tell you, Krista rocked it. While sitting in class all day Friday, she started feeling faint contractions. The contractions started to get stronger late Friday night and we actually went to the hospital early Saturday morning. After being there for a few hours they sent us home because Krista was only 3cm. That was a tough blow, at the time. So we packed up our stuff and headed home. For most of the day on Saturday Krista was laboring at home and trying to rest up as much as she could. That night Krista started having really strong contractions, so we packed up and headed to the hospital again. This time Krista was 8cm and we were off to the races! The nurse told us she thought they were going to send us home again because Krista was so calm during the contractions. For most of the pregnancy Krista had been training in the hynobirthing technique and it really helped her work through the contractions and relax her body. Once we got into the birthing suite things really picked up. After Krista’s water broke, she was ready to push and about 25 minutes later out (continued on back)

End of the Year Giving

Part of working for CSM and working at an urban ministry is fundraising. We have been doing it for almost seven years and it is still hard to ask people to donate money, especially in this economy. It is hard to ask people to donate their hard earned money so that I can have a job serving in Philly. Over the seven years, I have learned that people donate money so they can partner in the ministry that CSM does in the city. It is not about my ability to raise money but about God’s ability to move in peoples hearts. With that in mind I have been praying for God to move in people’s heart by the end of the year. I am about $3,700 away from my fundraising goal for 2010. Please prayerfully consider partnering with God’s ministry in Philadelphia.

came Grant. I am so thankful God gives us 9 months to prepare for birth. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions and one of the most intimate and beautiful experiences. In the end, Krista labored for about 26 hours and achieved her goal of having a natural birth. I have never been so proud of her! So what about Jack? Well, Jack loves his little brother. Pretty much every morning the first thing he says is “b” (which is “baby” in Jack’s language) and runs into the room to say “Hi” to Grant. He loves to hold him, give him kisses, and point out his nose to everyone. It is really neat to see Jack interact with him and be a big brother. We have some praises and prayer requests. Krista made it through the fall semester only missing a day & a half of class and finished everything on time, and had a baby. I don’t know how she did it but praise God. She has off of school for a month so we are looking forward to spending time as a family with no school work. We need prayers for this upcoming year. Krista will be finishing up her class work and starting her internships. This coming summer and fall we need to find some childcare for the boys because Krista’s internship is 40 hours a week. Please pray that we would find a good and affordable solution.
