The Blazer cross country team enters the 2012 season looking to return to the NCAA Central Regionals and to push their limits to qualify for the NCAA Championship. This past season, the team earned three team first-place finishes and one second place finish in the Fall Finale, with numerous top-ten finishes of individual athletes. Head coach Robin Balder-Lanoue enters her 16th year for the Blazers, and under her direction, the Blazers had much success last season. In the first two meets, which were on their home ground, they took first-place in both. At their next four meets, CSB hit a hot streak, posting three topfives, capped by a win at the Crown Invite. At the MIAC Championship, the team was stealth enough to end fifth out of 12 teams. The Fall Finale home meet ended their regular season, where the team slid by with a second place finish. In the NCAA Central Regional Championship, the Blazers finished eighth out of 28 teams. The team’s success was a result of both experienced leaders and all-star rookies. The team must replace seven seniors, but will look into the leadership of their twelve seniors as well as rookie sensations Bailey Drewes and Manon Gammon-Deering.
